The Hacienda is the most beautiful spot you can fine. It's quiet, immaculate. The scenary is breath taking. The staff just made our stay even more special, they took such good care of us. Carlos our first driver was patient with our delays at the airport. Papi always smilling and keeping the grounds immaculate. Dora's cooking made us want to take her home. Euri just made everything fun and easy to do. Let's not forget the meating with Luis the fisherman from Salinas. The kids loved going out fishing Dominican style. The beach is stone and the waves high which we made it a little hard to get in the ocean but other than that, it was a GREAT VACATION!

The hacienda is lovely. It is beautifully designed, with great attention to detail. It's truly a labour of love. Edmundo was very helpful and a very attentive host. He was readily available on the phone and helped us out when we had any issues. The place is quite far from Santo Domingo and very secluded. It's important that someone in the group is fluent in Spanish otherwise it is difficult to communicate with the staff. As you will be in the countryside be prepared for insects in May and June so take insect repellent and citronella candles. It is ideal for people looking for a hideaway and a place to relax.

We stayed here as a group of six for 5 days. While many of the reviews are detailed and helpful, I wanted to add a few things and be honest about how our host handled our stay. First let me begin by saying that the grounds are absolutely stunning. Euri, Dora, and Papo were wonderful and we highly suggest that you tip them well as they are who makes your stay so comfortable. The property: Papo and Euri keeps the grounds to perfection. Unfortunately it rained every day that we were there. And this is where our huge problem comes into play. The house flooded during a big rainstorm. I'm talking streaming down the walls coming out of light fixtures, pooling out onto the floor. Also to the point that sewage was literally coming out of the ceiling. I gave Edmundo a chance to make it right, I messaged with him and also emailed him. We eventually started the cleaning process ourselves, and then had to ask him to send someone in to help. We never heard from him again. Even just refunding a days worth of money it would have been a generous gesture for what we went through on that last part of our trip. Everyone had to sit in covered patio for hours and the house smelled of raw sewage. Despite this experience, we were in awe of how beautiful the grounds work. We wish that we could've utilized more of what the property had to offer. Unfortunately because it rained the whole time we could only use the pool occasionally. The drive from airport takes TWO hours. Not 45 mins. Just a heads up! As many of the other reviews suggest, there is a huge communication barrier if you do not speak Spanish. Do not rely on the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translator app as it doesn't really work. Our biggest hurdle was trying to figure out a menu and getting Dora to prepare that. She is an amazing cook so if you go fully prepared with a menu in advance and know that you literally need everything seasonings, toilet paper, paper towels, ice. Then you will be prepared. I suggest buying a lot of plantains and asking her to make Mangu for breakfast. If you like shrimp, she makes an amazing coconut shrimp dish. You could buy just a couple of small things at the main store, and then send Euri to the store every day with what Dora wants. Just tip him after. Euri also drove us to winery one day and we bought his meal and compensated him for his time as well. All very kind people and super nice. I wish I spoke Spanish so I could have spoken with them more. I honestly hope that the water damage is repaired, as this property truly is beautiful and the next people who book this house deserve to know those issues.

A remote get away. Bring water shoes, if you don't speak Spanish have an app, make sure you plan your meal menu in advance.

This hacienda was the escape that we needed. Euri, Dora, and Papo were amazing. The grounds were so beautiful (you will be taking a million photos during your stay). Sitting out on the dock in the swinging chair and reading my book as the sun rose was the perfect start to my days. We snorkeled, fished, played soccer and tennis, ate great meals, and even had two bonfires on the beach. One day, Euri took us to Bahia de las águilas. It's a drive but so worth it, I've never seen water so clear in my life. Tips for first timers at the hacienda, 1. bring water shoes or crocs for moving around the property or swimming 2. Bring a Spanish English dictionary and translator app 3. Buy citronella candles 4. Take advantage of everything the property has to offer!

About Edmundo

I am very natured oriented, hence why i own Hacienda Guayacanes.
I love the ocean, stars, clear sunny days, wind and cruising Ocoa bay early in the morning.
I am very sensuous and detail oriented. I like subtlety with comfort.
