The Blacksmith's Cottage is located on a vineyard and sheep farm called Lisdillon. The stone cottage was built by the convicts in the 1800s, and has a large garden and a deck with stunning views of the Lisdillon rivulet. The private beach is only a two minute stroll away. Included is the option of a free tasting of our internationally award winning wine.

The space
The historic, convict built Blacksmith's Cottage is a rubble stone building located on the East Coast of Tasmania dating back to the mid-1800s and is set on the historic sheep farm and vineyard, Lisdillon.

The cottage includes an open plan living and dining area and separate kitchen on the ground floor, and two upstairs bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two singles beds. The bathroom is on the ground floor, up two stairs from the living room. From the living area, which features a cosy wood fire, doors open onto a deck which overlooks the Lisdillon Rivulet.

Blacksmiths is surrounded by charming, spacious gardens which feature sunny seating areas and stunning country, river and ocean views.

The house features:
•two bedrooms, a double and a twin
•open-plan dining and living
•wood fire
•separate kitchen with all necessary ammenities
•door opening from living area to sunny deck and cottage garden with barbecue area
•deck with outdoor dining area that overlooks the rivulet
•Private beach and river 2 minutes’ walk away
•Spectacular views across the farm, Freycinet Peninsula and river.

Due to the steep staircase, this house is not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Located 21 kilometres from Swansea and set amongst farm land and vineyards, the Blacksmith's is the perfect setting for family holidays and cosy weekends away. Enjoy leisurely walks on the beach, try your luck fishing at the river or simply relax in the sun with a book, breathing in the fresh country air. Alternatively, take advantage of nearby attractions including East Coast wineries, Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park (1hr drive) and Maria Island ferry (25min drive).

Please note that though locals drink the water (it is clean), we do advise that guests bring their own drinking water.

Perfect for a relaxed weekend away - try some of Lisdillon's delicious pinot noir or sauvginon blanc!

For the fishermen guests, the sea out the front of our property offers:
- bay flathead
- king flathead
- cod
- trumpeter
- trevally
- salmon
- perch
- squid
- crayfish

The Lisdillon Rivulet has:
- bream
- oysters
- trevally mullet
- Australian salmon
- brown trout
- native galaxia
-occasionally flathead
- eels
- grayling, aka cucumber herring

Please note that, in order to preserve the environment of the river and estuary, all fish caught in the river and estuary are on a strictly catch and release basis and only are to be used not bait hooks.

Guest access
- private river with plenty of fish to catch and release.
- private beach. Please note: it is owned by the Lisdillon owners but you may share with a few other guests. Mostly the beach is empty or just has one or two other people on it.
- if you have a boat you can take it out to sea in front of our property

Other things to note
Though we drink the water, we do advise guests to bring their own drinking water. As we are 21 km from the nearest town, guests are advised to bring their groceries with them.

Little Swanport, Tasmania, Australia

Lisdillon is a 6000 acre working sheep farm and vineyard. Its title includes three white, sandy beaches to low water mark, as well as the reef off the main beach. It also includes a rivulet with swimming/fishing holes, an estuary perfect for fishing and amazing views of The Hazzards and Freycinet National Park, and of Maria Island. Lisdillon itself is described by many of our guests as being perhaps the most beautiful place they have seen on their visit to Australia.

With all this space, Lisdillon is the perfect place to go walking, swimming or fishing. Bring your kayaks and explore the river and coastline or bring your boat and launch it from the beach or from the MaST recommended boat ramp five minutes away. Perhaps you would prefer to just relax in the sun in the garden, on your private deck, or in the comfortable lounge room in front of the fire, and read the books or play the games that are provided - and perhaps enjoy a glass of Lisdillon's own award winning wine. Or if you enjoy cooking, make the most of the well equipped kitchen or barbecue!

We are within easy driving distance of Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park to the North and Maria Island to the south, making us the perfect base as you explore the world famous scenic areas of Tasmania's East Coast.

Or you may prefer to visit the local wine cellars and taste some of our world class Tasmanian wines and dine in some of the beautiful restaurants set among the vines.

Enjoy a meal in one of the local cafes or restaurants in Swansea, Triabunna or Orford - all within half an hour's drive. Piermont, with its award winning restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is only a ten minute drive.
