Quiet and secluded but close to the action. Just 5 km from Hobart city centre and even closer to Battery Point and Salamanca Place. Only 1 km from the University. Ideal for couples or 3 people travelling together.

The space
The apartment is a spacious 55 square metres with a generous bedroom and large living space in the lower level of our house. It is totally separate and self contained with a lockable internal door and separate private access via a gate, steps and pathways to the apartment.
There is a private deck for exclusive use of guests at the entrance to the apartment. The living area is large, light and airy with floor to ceiling windows with a kitchenette, library, dining table and chairs, and a large sofa that converts to a king single bed.
Also provided is free NBN WiFi, a Smart TV with Netflix and a micro sound system with bluetooth connectivity.
Basic breakfast provisions of fresh bread, butter, jams, Vegemite, milk, fruit and cereal are provided for your first day. In the kitchenette, there is a fridge, microwave, single induction hotplate, kettle, toaster, sandwich press, new Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother and tea and coffee. All crockery, cutlery, glassware, saucepans(3) and utensils are provided. There is a Weber Baby Q gas barbecue for quests use adjacent to the deck.
The bedroom is large with a queen size bed with a new quality mattress, top quality cotton bed linen, electric blankets and a panel convection heater. Built in wardrobes with a hotel style mini safe, iron and ironing board. It also features an antique chest of drawers and mirror.
The bathroom has a spa bath tub and a separate shower. A hairdryer, ammenities and good quality towels and bath linen provided. The toilet is also separate from the bathroom.
We have recently installed a top loading washing machine (cold wash only) and folding undercover clothes line for guests to use for free.

Sandy Bay is a prestige neighbourhood in Hobart with an enviable location overlooking the stunning River Derwent and close proximity to Hobart City, Salamanca Place and historic Battery Point.
We are also just 1 km from the University of Tasmania.
There is bush walking track just a few hundred metres from the apartment. It is a fairly easy 30 minute walk through the natural environment of Bicentennial Park up to Mount Nelson and the historic Signal Station and a nice cafe/restaurant called the Signal Station Brasserie. There are sweeping views of Storm Bay and the mouth of the Derwent estuary right around to Hobart and Mount Wellington (kunanyi)

I am married to my lovely wife Linden, we have been for over 30 years. We have two grown up children so I guess we are "Empty Nesters" consequently the spare space has become an Airbnb apartment. Linden and I are now hosts. We love to travel, Bali has been a favourite lately but we have travelled to the UK and Europe a couple of times as well as the USA, South Africa, New Zealand and various parts of South East Asia. Good food, coffee and wine are integral to any travel we do. We both enjoy reading, I also like listening to music, my Kindle and iPhone are essential travel companions! Experiencing new and different cultures and meeting new people is a very important part of travel for us. I like to think that I am respectful and care for the environment. During your stay
We generally welcome our guests as we occupy the upper level of the house. There is a lockable door (from both sides) at the bottom of the stairs that separates upstairs from downstairs and provides privacy and security for both guests and owners. We discreetly interact with our guests only if they so wish. We are happy to provide advice and local knowledge if required.
