Have this self-contained cave to yourself to refresh after a full day of exploring the unique attractions of Coober Pedy. Free Wi-Fi and tourist info. It's like nowhere else! Sit outside in the evenings to star gaze. The 2nd queen bed or the single bed is dug into the wall for a peaceful sleep underground! The space
Coober Pedy is the best kept secret for travellers. There is no where in the world where 60% of the locals live underground in caves of rock. Inside temperatures are between 22-26 degrees all year around! Visit museums, working opal mines, churches and shops all underground - and it's totally safe and few feel closed in. Just a day's drive from Adelaide and Alice Springs and you don't need a 4WD to make the most of the attractions. Note our bath is half size under the shower. Read our reviews - you'll want to come!

Guest access
Guests have their own undercover car park and space to view the vast expanses looking towards the stunning BreakAways. Ali's Underground is totally self contained and private. Walk on top of the roof/hill to view the town. Outside fire ban season, make yourself a fire in the drum provided outside.

Other things to note
#3 is Ali's Underground Studio and it's tucked around the corner at the end of SHAW PLACE which is right above the Catacomb Church. It's easy to find by turning right off the main street, Hutchison St, into Catacomb Road, then right again just before the church and go a few dugouts past the Desert View Apartments to this private hideaway of your very own.
INSTANT SELF CHECKIN by using your own 4 digit KEYCODE to access the KeySafe at the front blue door. Be adventurous and sleep in the second Queen sized bed which is set into the wall - you won't bump your head sitting up! That bed has it's own reading light, book shelf and powerpoint.

PET POLICY: please note that no pets can stay until you have discussed your pets' needs with Ali by phone and been approved. At the moment, to best look after the health of our future guests, we are unable to accommodate pets who shed hair. IF approved, I will send you an invoice for $15 per night to host your pet. No pets are permitted on furniture or bedding. Adequate space is available on tiles and in the ensuite. IF extra cleaning is required afterwards, please note you may be invoiced up to $50.

We are happy to post items left behind for the cost of postage + a $35 admin fee.

Neighbourhood highlights

Shaw Place offers great 180 degree views over the desert towards the BreakAways and Oodnadatta. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing and the night skies just as stunning. As a no through road, there is little traffic. Shaw Place is a bitumen road with good street lights. This quiet neighbourhood is within walking distance to the shops and main street.

After living 8 wonderful years in this amazing community of Coober Pedy, hubby and I have now moved south for family reasons. Please phone or email me here should you have any queries. I loved taking photos of the unique features of this region. I always looked forward to going to the outdoor Drive In for Saturday movie nights. The school has a fabulous pool open during hotter months and the clubs in town offer great home cooked meals - great for Friday nights after work! I love to travel myself, so am a bit here and a bit there these days...enjoying the great outdoors!
