A short walk to water, cafes and Salamanca Place, this Battery Point loft is light, white and spacious. Perfect for people wanting a guaranteed quiet sleep after museum hopping, gallery shopping and finding the best food in Australia. Parking is in the street or over the driveway or the airport shuttle bus stop is close by. The Loft also features some wonderful art from the Peter Fay collection.
The Loft sleeps two in a very comfortable split king bed that comes with electric blankets for the cold months. This lovely renovated ex-plumber's workshop is one large open space completely self-contained with it's own entrance and delightful water and garden views.
There are three levels. Enter into the spacious main living area, and kitchen looking out over the Derwent River and Sandy Bay. The bathroom, including a washing machine is also on this level. A small mezzanine space with a writing desk for creative souls, or those wanting to tackle our impossible jigsaw puzzle is up a small flight of stairs. Downstairs is a large, quiet bedroom. There is wi-fi throughout and a basic TV with HDM cord to connect to your laptop and an ipod/iphone player/docking station to listen to your own music.
The loft is conveniently located within easy walking distance north, south, east or west of fabulous eating out options. For the night you are not exploring the best of Hobart’s cuisine, the kitchen is pure Zen. One induction hot plate, a microwave, a coffee pod machine, a fridge, dishwasher and wide double toaster. There are plenty of utensils, cups, mugs, glasses, plates, bowls, saucepans and fry-pan to cook the great local produce. Our go-to cookbook is 'One Pot Wonders' left for your convenience.
The Loft is heated by an efficient heat pump in the living/kitchen space, a panel heater in the bedroom and a bar heater in the bathroom. All linen and towels are provided plus body wash, shampoo/conditioner and a hair dryer. We don't use fabric softeners, nor do we iron bed linen or towels. You will sleep and wash better for knowing that in your green hearts.
Many of the artists you will find on the walls of the The Loft were featured in Peter Fay's exhibition 'Home Sweet Home' and are available for sale. Peter also offers art tours which can be designed to suit your needs. Examples include 'The Contemporary' at MONA and 'The Colonial' at the Tasmanian Museum and Art gallery (TMAG). Let us know if you are interested in these tours when booking.
The Loft is great for a few days away or a longer term stay while you explore all Tasmania has to offer. The place is all yours but if you have any questions, want hints on what to do and where to go, just come up your drive and knock on our front door next door. The overall feel is friendly and funky in a space you can make your home for as long as you need.
- Loft Rules • No smoking anywhere on the premises please, including the garden and drive. • It's sadly not suitable for young children although a babe in arms would be fine if you don't mind the stairs and course happy to share the split king bed. • No parties please. • Please use all the exhaust fans in the bathroom and kitchen. • Car Parking: There is a guaranteed free car park very close by or right in front of the Loft. This is how it works: If the regular un-timed (free) parking spots in the street are occupied you can then legally park over the driveway that leads straight down to the Loft. You will find the un-timed parking spaces become available after business hours. • The Loft is self-catering but please let us know if you would like some milk in the fridge for your arrival. • If something isn't working please let us know directly as soon as you can so we can fix it ASAP. • We hope you have a wonderful stay.
Susan is Born-In-Tasmania and Katrina is Joyfully-Imported-to-Tasmania. Together we are exploring Hobart, this place of extraordinary clouds, of easy smiles and eclectic art. We hope the Loft will help you to do the same.
