A short walk to water, cafes and Salamanca Place, this Battery Point loft is light, white and spacious. Perfect for people wanting a guaranteed quiet sleep after museum hopping, gallery shopping and finding the best food in Australia. Parking is in the street or over the driveway or the airport shuttle bus stop is close by. The Loft also features some wonderful art from the Peter Fay collection.

The space

The Space
The Loft sleeps two in a very comfortable split king bed that comes with electric blankets for the cold months. This lovely renovated ex-plumber's workshop is one large open space completely self-contained with it's own entrance and delightful water and garden views.

There are three levels. Enter into the spacious main living area, and kitchen looking out over the Derwent River and Sandy Bay. The bathroom, including a washing machine is also on this level. A small mezzanine space with a writing desk for creative souls, or those wanting to tackle our impossible jigsaw puzzle is up a small flight of stairs. Downstairs is a large, quiet bedroom. There is wi-fi throughout and a basic TV with HDM cord to connect to your laptop and an ipod/iphone player/docking station to listen to your own music.

The loft is conveniently located within easy walking distance north, south, east or west of fabulous eating out options. For the night you are not exploring the best of Hobart’s cuisine, the kitchen is pure Zen. One induction hot plate, a microwave, a coffee pod machine, a fridge, dishwasher and wide double toaster. There are plenty of utensils, cups, mugs, glasses, plates, bowls, saucepans and fry-pan to cook the great local produce. Our go-to cookbook is 'One Pot Wonders' left for your convenience.

The Loft is heated by an efficient heat pump in the living/kitchen space, a panel heater in the bedroom and a bar heater in the bathroom. All linen and towels are provided plus body wash, shampoo/conditioner and a hair dryer. We don't use fabric softeners, nor do we iron bed linen or towels. You will sleep and wash better for knowing that in your green hearts.

The Art
Many of the artists you will find on the walls of the The Loft were featured in Peter Fay's exhibition 'Home Sweet Home' and are available for sale. Peter also offers art tours which can be designed to suit your needs. Examples include 'The Contemporary' at MONA and 'The Colonial' at the Tasmanian Museum and Art gallery (TMAG). Let us know if you are interested in these tours when booking.

The Loft is great for a few days away or a longer term stay while you explore all Tasmania has to offer. The place is all yours but if you have any questions, want hints on what to do and where to go, just come up your drive and knock on our front door next door. The overall feel is friendly and funky in a space you can make your home for as long as you need.

This is how it works: If the regular un-timed (free) parking spots in the street are occupied you can then legally park over the driveway that leads straight down to the Loft. You will find the un-timed parking spaces become available after business hours. • The Loft is self-catering but please let us know if you would like some milk in the fridge for your arrival. • If something isn't working please let us know directly as soon as you can so we can fix it ASAP. • We hope you have a wonderful stay.

The loft is within walking distance to great bakeries, markets and the city centre. The apartment has beautiful natural light and looks down on a nice garden and harbour views. It's really spacious for two people and very warm with heaters and a lovely fireplace. There are also a great selection of books that we found helpful to learn more about Hobart Town. Susan and Katrina made us feel extremely welcome. They were also very informative and helpful. They were always quick to respond if we needed anything.

Lovely airy open space great for a couple. The location is in close walking distance to a good choice of local restaurants, pubs and nice cafe with bakery as well as more on offer at Salamanca. There's the famous Saturday market and easy walking distance to catch the ferry to MONA. The kitchen only has a microwave and one electric plate for cooking so a little limited if you want to cook dinner for yourselves but otherwise well equiped with everything you need including espresso pod machine. Great wood burning fire or conventional heating if you prefer - very cosy on a cold night. Comfy king size bed in large downstairs room. Friendly helpful hosts. We loved it. Highly recommend.

The place was within walking distance of Salamanca and the wharf, it was absolutely spotless and very comfortable for a cold winters night. Susan and Katrina were both so thoughtful they even researched some cafes and restaurants to accomodate for our dietary requirements and had prepared the fireplace for our arrival! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit Hobart.

Our stay at Susan and Katrina's was beyond our expectations. Fantastic place, comfortable, warm and friendly with great views and walking distance to a wide range of restaurants, pubs and the Salamanca Market. Battery Point is a place that has to be seen to be believed. Katrina helped us settle in and was very generous with her time and suggestions for things to see and do. In fact, the information folders that are provided are about the best prepared I have ever encountered and were extremely helpful. Really hope to return.

Great location. Lots of bars/restaurants/cafes around. 10 minute walk down to the water front and town. Would happily stay again.

Susan and Katrina's place is absolutely beautiful. Extremely comfortable, and every little detail had been thought of and catered for. Everything you need to stay for a week or more is provided, and the hosts were so helpful. The location is ideal for a holiday in Hobart.

Location, location etc. Scenic, quiet neighbourhood and a very plush loft with everything you would ever need or want. We enjoyed the woodstove one evening but if that's not your thing, there's more than enough conventional heating. Susan welcomed us and continued communicating via sms with handy information about things to do and see. It's a cut above most places we've stayed in and will add to the enjoyment of Hobart.
