Thoroughly recommend this house. Lovely hosts and well set up house. All you might require. And a nice location in a nice town!

The Chantry is a great spot in the beautiful small town of Shaftesbury. A short walk from Gold Hill. And a short drive to Larmer Tree Gardens where we were attending End of the Road festival. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped whilst having access to the house's big garden which overlooks the vale is a lovely bonus. It was the perfect spot to relax and soak up the countryside views.

We so enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of Hilary's home and fantastic garden, it was literally home from home and we would both definitely return to the area again, not just for The Dorset Steam Fair as we were this time, but to have the opportunity to stay in Hilary's home and see more of Shaftesbury. We have been talking about it to our friends non-stop since our return! We both remarked on how comfortable the bed was and thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the conservatory looking out onto the garden and the hills beyond. We enjoyed a meal at The Mitre, Hilary's suggestion and was planning a return visit but decided that we had all we needed at Hilary's and a beautiful view to boot. I can thoroughly recommend this property and delightful host if you are touring the area, lovely to put your feet up after a long day!

I booked Hilary's cottage for my cousin, her daughter, son-in-law and 6 week old granddaughter who were visiting Shaftesbury for a party. They were completed bowled over by the place. There is a lot of space, the garden is really beautiful and Hilary was the perfect host.

A beautiful, cosy, spacious cottage in a quiet spot in Shaftesbury. Great location for visiting surrounding area. Range of shops and restaurants/pubs for evening meals. Very comfortable lounge area and lovely bedrooms with a big garden we were encouraged to share. Will definitely go again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely, comfortable and spacious cottage - with its large, beautiful garden and stunning views. Our toddler enjoyed exploring the garden and playing with the various outdoor (and indoor) toys. It had everything we needed and Hilary was a very helpful and friendly host. We would definitely recommend this cottage to families with children as well as those who are looking for a pretty spot to relax and explore Dorset. Shaftesbury town centre with all its views, attractions and good coffee spots is a very close walk too.

Hilary User ProfileHilary is a superhost.

I love the countryside, water ( sea or lake) and places with history.
Spend a lot of time in beautiful France and speak French. I work in the voluntary sector. I am also a qualified English language teacher and enjoy having visitors living with us in our English home to improve their language skills
