The Racecourse Inn was purpose built as a coaching inn in 1860 by ticket-of-leave convict William Dean, and is now a heritage B&B. The Queen Suite is a Queen sized bedroom with separate sitting room (with a sofa bed), with an interconnecting bathroom in between. The bathroom has a shower, and separate toilet, with doors from both sides (bedroom and sitting room). All linen and towels are provided, and bathroom amenities. The tariff includes a full cooked and continental breakfast for two.

The space
The Queen suite accommodates two guests, with an extra guest on a sofa bed in the sitting room. The ensuite bathroom divides the bedroom and sitting room. A cot is available on request. The house has a cosy, Georgian country manor house atmosphere, filled with fresh flowers from our cottage garden. Behind our English style hedge is a lovely cottage garden which guests are welcome to explore and enjoy. We have two very friendly sheep, a Tasmanian Smithfield Sheepdog, a gorgeous little cat and 7 chickens.

Guest access
Shared dining room and sitting room, and a small private dining room seating 6. There are guest tables and chairs in our lovely cottage garden, the perfect place for a pot of tea or glass of wine in the evening. Guests may use the BBQ.

Longford is a quiet agricultural town, established in 1814, only 20 minutes from Launceston and 15 minutes from Launceston airport. We are 5 minutes from UNESCO World Heritage listed Woolmers and Brickendon Estates, and close to some of the best fly fishing in Australia, in the Macquarie and South Esk Rivers, Brumby's Creek and the highland lakes.

We love Tasmania's northern midlands and the wonderful rural landscape around Longford, and enjoy making our guests feel welcome in this wonderful heritage listed Georgian house. I am passionate about cooking our beautiful Tasmanian fresh produce (especially desserts), gardening, good wine, antiques, and painting botanic watercolours and birds. We also love our animals, and are slaves to one very small cat, a young Smithfield Collie (a Tasmanian sheepdog breed), and custodians of two gorgeous black sheep and eight chooks. When not at the Racecourse Inn we love to get out and explore around Tasmania's northern midlands and the Great Western Tiers.
