Comfy bed for better sleep

The black-out blinds and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Old Brickworks is based in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, just a 2 minute drive out of Lobethal town centre.

An eclectic, cosy and unique accomodation offers 2 beds (sleeps 4), with a small kitchenette and lounge/dining area. It was once a old mechanic shed, which stands alongside the 3 brick Onkaparinga Brick Works kilns.

The bathroom is via a undercover breezeway but separate to the main dwelling.

We have a beautiful outdoor space with a BBQ and veggie patches for you to explore.

The space
Old Brickworks is located just out of the heart of Lobethal, on an 18 acre property which was once home to the Onkaparinga Brick Works. The dwelling sits next to the original three brick kilns, and was once the original mechanics shed.

The ‘Old Brickworks’ is a two bedroom dwelling, with one queen size bed and one double bed, divided by a half wall with a curtain door.

There’s a small open plan kitchen area, with microwave and fridge (no stove or cooktop) and some breakfast provisions provided, as well as a cosy dining and lounge room area.

Sit around the wood fire inside or head outside to the veggie patch, where you can hang out with a platter and a glass of wine, play giant jenga or read a book and sip your morning coffee. If you're wanting to cook something at home, use the Baby Weber Q outside to cook up a storm.

The bathroom is separate to the main dwelling (only one metre away) but is attached by an undercover breezeway. We provide all linen and towels, as well as extra blankets and electric blankets for when the weather cools down. The dwelling retains a comfortable temperature all year round as it is double brick.

The space is eclectic, rustic, unique and full of vintage charm. The walls are adorned with images of local wildlife and artwork made by the Brickworks owner and caretaker, Robyn, as well as items found on the premises when Robyn purchased the property.

Guest access
Old Brickworks is a space that is just for you.

It is nestled on an 18 acre property, but is about 5 metres away from the owners dwelling. The space has its own access and driveway, using a key lock for access- so you can be as private as you wish. You can see the owners property from the dwelling, but she will leave you to your own devices (the chickens and dog Dora may come to fence to say hello).

Other things to note
Please note there is no mains water at the property and we rely on rainwater, so please use it responsibly.

Our accommodation is suited for up to four persons (2 beds), however the price listed is for two guests. If you wish to have extra guests, the rate is an additional $20.00 per person, per night. We will calculate this below when you add the amount of guests staying below.

The dwelling is not tailored for young children, and the property and surrounds require that you take care. If you wish to bring your children please contact us regarding suitability.

Unfortunately wifi is not available as the satellite reception is poor. The TV however has Wi-Fi compatibility, so you are welcome to hotspot it from your phone.

The house is equipped with ceiling fans and a wood fire heater. We will provide you with wood and essentials for the fire.

The brick kilns that surround the property were built in 1930, so as expected, they have seen better days and the structural integrity of them is questionable. We are happy for you take photographs of the kilns, but please ask that you do not enter them.

You are welcome to feed our Scottish Highlander Teddy and three sheep- just let us know when you visit so we can move the cow to the front paddock.

The town of Lobethal is only a 2 minute drive away, with plenty to see and do in the town itself. Our local Foodland has all you would need for your stay, or alternatively pick up bites to eat and drinks at one of the many cafes/wineries/providores. We have a little booklet full of all our favourite places to visit in the region if you’re stuck for ideas.

You can find our accomodation on social media, find us on @oldbrickworks for more photos and local places we love to visit!
