Thank you for your honest review of our rental. Your feedback will help us continue to give our guests a pleasant experience.
I am disappointed that parking was an issue and wish Jonathan had let me know what was going on so that I could have spoken with the workmen and resolved the issue. There were some new workmen that week who must not have been aware that the gravel area parallel to the street is for the tenants. He did notify me of the car that was parked in the spot for several hours and I investigated immediately. I asked around and it was not a guest of the other tenant, nor a guest of our neighbors’. This was not a “guest parking rule/communication” issue, it was an isolated incident that was out of my control. It was probably someone visiting one of the nearby businesses and was not there overnight. I left a note on the car asking them not park there again and Jonathan was able to park in the driveway in the meantime. We installed the gravel area four months ago and this is the first time this has happened. Parking on the street in our neighborhood is free, legal, and ample so if this happens to a guest in the future, it may be temporarily annoying, but they should not have any issue finding street parking one or two houses down.
Yes, I have been transparent in my listing and remind guests in the welcome note that there is construction happening and that there is potential for noise through May 2018.
Private fenced area/Hammering outside bedroom:
Yes, this fenced area on the side of the house is private. The fence doors lock from the inside so no one can access that area from the outside. One of these doors, however, needed to be repaired to maintain the privacy and security of the area. I asked the contractor to do the repairs, to let me know when exactly they would be working on it so that I could give our guests a heads up, and to avoid morning hours, but none of these requests were followed (which is an ongoing issue with our contractor) and I am sorry and frustrated that you were woken up at 9:00am on Thursday morning in this manner. This is not the type of experience I want our guests to have and we will be relieved and will celebrate once the construction is complete. Again, it was stated in multiple ways in the listing and welcome note that there was construction going on and that there was potential for noise. The fence is now repaired and the area is private and secure so this will not happen again, so it will not be an issue for future guests.
This mattress is a firm Sleep On Latex Brand mattress and received excellent ratings on Consumer Reports, which is why we chose it for our rental properties. I have had some guests inquire about purchasing one for themselves and have had no complaints.
I am sorry that dog hair got on your clothes. I ran the “tub clean” cycle on the washer and wiped out the dryer. I asked the tenant with the dog to do the same after she does her laundry. She was also apologetic about the dog hair. I will add this process to the house rules and to my cleaning schedule.
Yes, the kitchen is small and there is not much counter space, but there is a dining room table in the apartment that folds out for six, so that could be used as an additional surface for food preparations.
