Outdoor area with BBQ, 2 bike storage areas, bike washing facilities and offstreet parking.

The space
Derby Base has everything you need for a relaxed, comfortable stay - carpeted lounge area with comfy chaise lounge, slow combustion fireplace (plus heat pump), wifi, flatscreen TV and DVD player.
A fully equipped kitchen with espresso coffee machine, dishwasher, slow cooker, sandwich toaster, full-size fridge/freezer, microwave, electric stove, Bluetooth speaker and everything else you'd expect to find by way of kitchen necessities (even a good sharp knife!).
The main bedroom has a queen size orthopaedic bed, second bedroom has 2 x orthopaedic king single beds and the third bedroom has 2 x orthopaedic king single beds and 1 x orthopaedic single bed - all with quality linen, warm doonas, wool blankets and an array of pillows to suit most tastes.
The north facing front of the house has a great sunroom off the main bedroom set up with comfy chairs and table - the perfect spot to enjoy a cuppa and get into one of the books from the bookcase.
There's an outside entertaining area with timber outdoor setting, BBQ and chimera - a great spot to share trail tales.
The bathroom has bath and shower (over bath) with timber vanity and plenty of hanging space, with a separate 'throne' room.
There's a washing machine and dryer for your use and there are wall hangers for 3 bikes in the laundry (plus there's a lock up shed out back with plenty more bike storage space and some bike maintenance tools for when things go awry).
Along with the single open garage for the car, there's a fenced yard with room for parking and bike washing facilities.
There's a portacot and high chair available for guest use but you will need to bring your own linen.
Derby Base is situated in central Derby off the main road in a quiet part of town - yet still within minutes walk (or pedal) to Derby township and the trail head.

Location

Derby, Tasmania, Australia

Derby is most well-known these days for the Blue Derby MTB trails. You can find plenty of information and maps of the trails on the ridebluederby or ridetassie websites.
There are 3 companies in Derby currently running shuttle services - Premium MTB Transfers, Mad MTB and Vertigo MTB. For more details on their services, check out their websites.
Other than world class mountain bike trails, the walking trails around Derby are simply stunning - check out Environment Tasmania for more info.
Or you can always put in your kayak or canoe (you’ll need to BYO) down at the Derby picnic ground and enjoy the view from the Ringarooma River (even throw in a line – the river is well-known for flyfishing).
Be sure to check out Blue Lake – also ideal for canoeing, fishing and boating. Keep an eye out for some smokey quartz or topaz.
Take a day trip up to the coastal town of Bridport (about 30 mins) and enjoy an easy walk along the waterway and grab a coffee at one of the local cafes. On the return trip take a detour to check out some great wineries such as Jansz, Josef Chromy, Bay of Fires and Brook Eden (just to name a few!).
Scottsdale has a 9 hole golf course with very reasonable green fees if you’re after a more leisurely pursuit.
Check out the Dorset Council’s website for a list of events happening in the area.

Hi my name is Stu. Along with my brother Mark and our partners, Jo and Tracy, we are the owners of Derby Base. We have a passion for mountain bike riding, both competitively and for leisure, and in our opinion (which is shared by many), Blue Derby Trails are some of the best MTB trails in Australia. This along with the undeniable beauty of Derby itself was our motivation for setting up our holiday home.
