The home is incredibly charming, spotlessly clean, and perfectly comfortable. Book your trip here without hesitation. Spacious and homey, there was more than enough room for 7 of us to not feel on top of each other. The location is perfect, just across from the creeper trail and a lovely little restaurant, The River Cafe, delicious food, nicest people. Great winery just down the street as well, Not too far from town, but feels like it's own little world. Quiet and secluded, heard crickets at night, excellent stargazing, and soft, endless lawn for running around barefoot. Great place for kids and families, plenty of space for the extended brood, ping pong and air hockey in the garage, lots of board games and an upstairs loft the kids love. Plenty of linens and towels and extras like toiletries and all of the kitchen odds and ends you could need. Shannon and Lisa were so kind and generous, so easy to get in touch with and everything was so smooth. Felt the stress melt away the minute we pulled into the driveway. Pictures just can't capture the feelings of serenity that surround the home and property, it's a real treasure

Could not have been happier, kids played ping pong and games while the adults relaxed on the front porch listening to the river; house had everything you could need and was immaculate. Rural ambiance and privacy was stellar, with a 60 second walk or ride to the river and creeper trail. Perfection.

Shannon has created an ideal location for any family planning to ride the Creeper trail! You can ride your bikes down the drive, and in 2 minutes, be heading to either Abingdon or Damascus. Great outdoor shower option under the stars and plenty of kids games in the garage. We easily accommodated 4 adults and 4 children. What a terrific spot!

A magical setting that feels secluded but still very convenient to the river and trail. A cute little cafe just opened in Alvarado that is walkable. The property is beautiful and the farmhouse feels like a stay with Grandma. Clean, cozy and full of whimsy. Perfect for our family with three girls!

This vey cute and super comfortable house is surrounded by areas of exquisite natural beauty and cultural opportunities. I took advantage of the lovely porch and patio area both in the am for bird watching and in the evening for dinner al fresco. We loved our stay in Alvarado and would do it again in a heartbeat!

I love flowers, gardening, nature, reading and my family. My husband, sons and I and enjoy exploring new places especially by bike or on foot. We also love dogs, hiking, art, music and food. My favorite place on earth is currently tied between my Grandparents place in the mountains of Southwestern Virginia and our farm in Alvarado, VA.
