I'm not sure how dragging two square concrete pavers, some random plywood, a long pressure treated piece of timber (which is is ILLEGAL to burn under any circumstance - hello, chemical fumes), and 2 concrete blocks together created "a small safe fire pit", but let's clear this up for all readers here: EMMA AND HER PARTY STARTED A FIRE IN A PART OF MY PROPERTY THEY WERE NOT EVEN RENTING - and it was SIX FEET from my home, which is also illegal. (Fire pits in PC must be contained, be at least 10 feet AWAY from a home, and be at least 50 feet from other dwellings. This contraption met NONE of these criteria. She claimed she "didn't know" they they "couldn't have a fire pit" (despite the lack of an ACTUAL fire pit, safe wood to burn, or instructions on said fire pit) , but neither did she do the smart thing, which was to ASK ME. When I found the VERY UNSAFE, most definitely ILLEGAL fire pit, I immediately (NOT the next day) texted her and gave her two choices: To clean it up RIGHT NOW and forfeit her entire deposit ($350) OR to check out by 3 pm that day with no refund for the balance of her stay. She chose the former, and she apologized and did clean it up. I said I would leave a good review for her IF she resolved the issue with the cleanup and the deposit, which she agreed to (and I have text messages to prove this). Then after her stay ended, she refused to meet her end of the deal, causing ME to escalate the issue to Airbnb. Maybe it was the fumes from the illegally burned pressure treated wood. Maybe it is her age. But THIS IS EXACTLY WHY Airbnb hosts do not rent to the under 25 set, so owners beware. I thought I could prevent this by meeting Emma and her party upon their arrival and asking them to not destroy my home or property, but apparently the Natty Light was making the decisions here, and not a mature, respectful guest. There were SIX of them (despite her telling me originally that only 5 would be staying), and NO ONE thought to say this was a bad idea. Sad that Emma and her party destroy other people's property, don't keep their word, and then act like entitled, petulant children when asked to ante up.
