The 2 self-contained gîtes are well furnished and comfortable. The quiet country atmosphere is appreciated by those who need a rest from the hectic life of the town. You can laze by the natural pool and barbeque your meals, read a book and relax. But there is plenty to do if you want! There are maps of local walks and bike rides, suggestions for visits and reviews by other guests. There are games for children of all ages and a playground. Bring your dog (or cat) they are all welcome.

The space
A well-equipped gîte in a charming location looking out over a wooded valley. Ideal for walkers and cyclists as the area is criss-crossed by signed paths and tracks and a 'voie verte' for cyclists starts 5 km away and goes all the way to Bressuire (and beyond) There are laminated cards in the gîte giving maps and directions for a range of local walks/rides. Dogs are welcome and there is a spacious kennel with outside run for those days you visit attractions which don't accept pets.
The first bedroom has a double bed, the second has 2 singles, a child's bed (1.m) and a cot.The bathroom has a shower and a bidet and the toilet is adjoining. The kitchen area has a full-size cooker and lots of cooking equipment, microwave, kettle, toaster, pressure cooker and wok. There is a family size dishwasher, a fridge and a freezer. The lounge area has a sofa , 3 easy chairs and a coffee table. The dining area has a table and 5 chairs, TV, DVDs,CDs. There are 2 extension leads converting French plugs to English for your UK appliances.
The terrace has a table and 5 chairs, parasol and BBQ for those summer meals outdoors! Your clothes drying rack is there (iron and ironing board are in the gîte) The laundry in the barn has 3 machines, a tumble drier and a drying rack.
Outside there is a play area, natural swimming pool (no chlorine so good for those who are sensitive to chemicals) boules pitch with outside lighting and car park. The games room is in the barn along with a selection of bikes you can borrow.

Guest access
When you arrive for your stay I give you the keys to the cottage, the barn, the pool area and, if you have a dog, the kennel, so that you can make use of all the facilities, come and go as you please.

Other things to note
I have to fill in a form when you arrive with all your details (anti-terrorism rules) and to charge a tourist tax at the end of your stay (85 centimes per adult, per night)
July / August I only rent by the week. My changeover day is Saturday. The other months I offer shorter rentals but the minimum is 3 nights.
The prices are for 3-5 people. If you are on your own or a couple then I am prepared to offer you a discount, contact me for a chat.

ST PAUL EN GATINE, Deux-Sèvres, France

La Chandurière is a tiny village overlooking a wooded valley with a stream. It is peaceful and rural with beautiful rolling farmland and scattered hamlets. We are between Puy du Fou (40 mins) and Futuroscope (75 mins) which are two of the biggest attractions in France. There are a lot of other great places to visit nearby and always loads of local festivals, markets, competitions and shows. La Rochelle and nearby beaches are 90 minutes away.

During your stay
I live in the adjoining house so I will be there to welcome you, resolve any problems and to give you advice on what to do locally. I am English but belong to Gâtin'émois, a local association charged with promoting the area and its tourist attractions but also local shops, restaurants, food producers and accommodaton. We even have our own currency!
If you like I can organise social events between guests and my neighbours (that'll help improve your French!) involving a BBQ or aperitifs or a boules match... And you might want a visit from Cyril's two elderly horses or a tour of Didier' farm. None of this is compulsory!
