The space
We have a large beautiful apartment in central Paris in a great neighbourhood. It is well designed and has a warm and calm Parisian feel. that’s the great benefit of being a guest in someone’s home, rather than a customer in someone’s corporate brand.

It is very spacious (133m² = 1431.6ft²), has recently been renovated and has been featured in ELLE and MARIE CLAIRE magazines.

With a cosy american kitchen (Fully furnished with Micro Wave, Oven, Freezer, washer, dryer …), two living rooms, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, our apartment can accommodate 7 people. One bedroom has a queen size bed, the other bedroom has two single beds, the third bedroom has a convertible for two people and each living room has a sofa that doubles as a single bed.

There is a large Full HD TV Screen with cable TV+ High Speed Internet (100mo).

Our neighbourhood has great energy and atmosphere and has maintained its unique family/small businesses feel with lots of exiting restaurants, design shops, galleries and boutiques opening up every month. It has a real artsy feel and energy to it. The whole street is an open air market with great food stores:

Bread, meat and fish
If you walk rue du Faubourg Saint Denis northwards from our apartment, you will come across one of the neighborhood institutions: the “Julhes” shops.
There is a Julhes “boulangerie” with bread and cakes, then a Julhes specialized in cheese and wine. Both sell excellent stuff and we definitely advise you to go there for your bread at least, and to enjoy excellent cheese and wine!
Right next to Julhes, you will find “Au bon porc”, the best “butchery” in the street. If you don’t feel like cooking, a good deal is to buy there roasted chicken and potatoes. They also have most of the basics of French “charcuterie” : “saucisson”, pâtés, ham…
Next to them, you will find a very small and nice fish shop.

Supermarkets
there are 6 of them at our doorstep: Franprix, Monoprix, Carrefour Market, ED, dia, Lidl, you name it, it's here!

Groceries
In case of a last minute needs, you will find a number of small groceries along the street that open late at night. These groceries are ethnic, so go ahead and indulge in Turkish food, indian curries, chinese damplings, spicy sri lankan vegan snacks.

Fruits and vegetables
For fruits and vegetables, you can find two big stores selling them right next door, at the corner of rue du Faubourg Saint Denis and rue de Metz. The choice is wide and the prices are great – lots of Parisians from other neighborhoods come to those two shops to buy their fruits and vegetables!

Restaurants
Here is a small selection of restaurants that are very close to our apartment. Obviously there is a wide choice of restaurants everywhere in Paris.
•Au Plomb du Cantal: it is close to the Porte Saint Martin. This is a restaurant and bar which serves essentially typical food from Auvergne.
•Chez Julien: very close to our apartment northwards. The food is good but most of all, the decoration is great, all “art-deco”.
And also Derya and Pooja, the Turkish and Indian restaurants mentioned above.

Cafes
Our two favorite cafes to hang out are:
•the Sully, just across the street – you can actually see it from the windows of the apartment. During the day, it is a typical “neighborhood café”; at night time, young people often come here, as well as musicians. IT HAS GREAT WIFI ACCESS (coffee is 1.5 euros and then you can stay and use their WIFI all day-they are opened from 6AM to 2AM)
•“Café Jeannette”, a bit northwards on the rue du Faubourg Saint Denis, a bit more of a trendy café, very friendly. Lots of youth meet there at night, before – or after – going out.
•If you keep on walking north, you will find on your left-hand side the “passage des petites écuries”. It’s very friendly, with very few cars passing by. Lots of people come here in the summer, during the weekend, to sip on a coffee or a beer and enjoy the quietness –There are several cafés on each of the sidewalk here, all of them great.

We live in an authentic Art Deco Parisien Passage. It dates back to the early 19th century. 15-20 minutes walk will get you the Marais neighborhood, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Opera Garnier and the uber hip Canal St. Martin neighborhood. You can't beat this central location. There are 4 metro stations nearby (Château d'Eau, Gare de l'Est, Strasbourg Saint Denis and Gare du Nord )that can get you to the must see places in Paris in a heart beat (the Eiffel Tower, the Marais, Concorde, Tuileries, the Louvre, the Champs Elysées, the Opera Garnier, the Sacre coeur, Montmartre, the Moulin Rouge, the Latin Quarter and Notre Dame…). The RER B and A to the airports and Disneyland Paris are also close by…

One of the best Jazz clubs of Paris, the New Morning, is right down the street from us. This neighborhood has excellent food, great inexpensive Indian, Turkish and Madagascar restaurants, two of the most beautiful art deco Brasseries of Paris and fabulous bread, pastry, cheese and wine shops. This is also a great neighborhood for shopping for hip and unique designer boutiques.
The whole neighborhood has become an artsy underground mecca. Latest stars sightings:
•Musicians:
Prince - he lately played a surprise gig at the New Morning, a tiny jazz concert hall around the corner from us.
•Fashion designers: Christian Lacroix, John Galliano, Jean-Paul Gaultier (he has his offices 3 blocks away)
•Movie and theatre stars: Audrey Tautou, Marion Cottillard, Gerard Depardieu, Sofia Coppola, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Hanks, Bertrand Tavernier (French director), John Travolta, Will Smith.
We will leave you a list of our favorites restaurant, bars, food shops as well as our favorite shopping areas. We want our home to be a home away from home for you!

I'm a professional tourist . My parents were diplomats and UN officials and I've been traveling since I was born. Half French, half Argentinean I've lived in England, France, Spain, Ireland, Holland, the United States, Chile, Peru, Argentina and Venezuela. After my international business studies I became a strategic planner for the French fashion and beauty firms, as well as the movie and music industry: My job was to travel the world to report on the latest fashion and beauty trends so that firms and artists could know what the next craze would be and get inspired.
I've now settled in Paris and my love of this beautiful Capital, my ability to uncover the new, the unique and the offbeat and my hand-on knowledge of the experiences a traveler to a new country will crave for has grown into a business idea. Established in 2004, with its headquarters at 32 rue Pastourelle, in the historic neighborhood of Le Marais, Not a tourist Destination 's mission is to help you make the best of your visit to Paris.
We offer food, shopping, nightlife and cultural experiences "off the beaten path" through Paris' most wonderful and historical neighborhoods. We deliver top-notch personalized services that will make you feel pampered and unique and our tours take you to places that very few people have access to: little known architectural and gastronomic gems of Paris, exclusive art exhibits, private sales, artist show rooms, wholesale shops, sample sales and select clubs where you never have to queue. We take it to heart that you experience the excitement of adventure and discovery that a meticulous crafted tour can offer.
