The Barracks was built in 1960 as accommodation for farm workers. It is now fully renovated and set in a quiet rural spot in the corner of our garden. The Barracks provides a number of attractions including a native forest garden with classic stone Labyrinths and stable and yard accommodation for horses. Chooks and vegetable gardens are also a feature. There is also an outdoor fire pit for those who like the flames and warmth of an outdoor fire during the day or at night.

The space
The Barracks is a short drive from the historic river town of Echuca that holds many annual festivities such as Southern 80, and the Steam Rally as well as year round Paddle Steamer trips along the Murray. Shepparton is the hub of the region that is surrounded by many farming activities including fruit and wine production. Restaurants also feature in these centres. Many smaller towns like Rushworth, Whroo Forest, Euroa, Merrigum, Tatura and Violet Town are also close by and hold many events and festivities throughout the year.

Guest access
The Barracks features a fully equipped kitchen with electric stove and oven. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, chest of drawers, bedside tables and lamps and hanging space. The entire space is cooled and heated with reverse cycle air conditioning. The lounge room features a sofa and chairs, television and well stocked book case and serves as a second sleeping area with a comfortable bed settee. A porta cot is also available. The bathroom features a spacious shower, toilet, vanity with ample storage drawers and cupboards and a washing machine. There is a clothesline outside and a pretty garden.

We are Jenni and Ian; both professional workers who live on a rural property where we are developing a large native garden featuring several stone labyrinths. We want to share this experience with others and so decided to create a B&B experience using our renovated former farm workers quarters once called 'The Barracks'. Our life motto is to live with a light footprint.
