Kookaburra Cottage is a purpose built, 2-bedroom 2-bathroom house, nestled among the rain forest trees on a 5-acre property on a hillside overlooking a small lake. Relax and unwind on the large deck and soak up the sounds of nature in this peaceful and tranquil bush setting. The property is close to town, the golf course and Baroon Pocket Dam. Enjoy a delicious breakfast featuring locally sourced products before exploring the surrounding area. Let us be your home away from home!

The space
Kookaburra is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom house providing a modern, clean and quiet living space in a garden setting. The front door opens into the open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area. The full kitchen has all necessary appliances, with ample cupboard and stone benchtop space.

The back wall of the living area is made up of a full width window and sliding door that opens up on to the large deck overlooking the lake.

Both bedrooms have sliding door access to the deck and overlook the lake, the rain forest and macadamia tree and both have their own ensuite bathroom with large shower. Bedroom 1 has a Queen bed. Bedroom 2 has 1 x double and 1 x single bed.

There is a wood burning stove in the living area and enough wood for the cold nights in winter is provided. There are also reverse-cycle air-conditioners in the bedrooms.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire Cottage and shared gardens as well as access to the surrounding grounds and small dam.
The large lake is on private property and guests do not have access to it.

Other things to note
* We provide a delicious breakfast basket filled with local and home-made produce. From freshly baked bread, croissants and pastries to eggs from our chickens and fresh local seasonal fruit to milk and yoghurt from Maleny's award-winning dairy and cheese factory.

* Our property is semi-rural and is not on town water or sewerage. Our water comes from rainwater tanks, and we have a wastewater treatment plant. The house has its own tank and is perfectly safe to drink.

* The greater property is part of a wildlife corridor and is not fenced. We also ask that dogs remain on lead at all times when on the grounds as we have an abundance of bird and wildlife on the property.
We allow a maximum of 2 pets (but can be flexible depending on size).

* There are pasture-fed free range chickens on the property

* There are other cottages on the property.

Neighbourhood highlights

Maleny is a popular hinterland tourist destination. The town is close to everything the Sunshine Coast has to offer, but still manages to retain it's unique "village" charm. In recent years Maleny has become well known as a health retreat and wedding destination.

There are a number of markets nearby (including the famous Eumundi Market) and we are only 20 minutes away from Australia Zoo and 40 minutes to Kings Beach.

There are a number of award winning (and famous) local producers and some fantastic eateries and unique shops in Maleny town centre.
