Escape the city, suburbia and crowds & take a step back in time in our petite 70's retro caravans, dotted in private locations on our 120 acre property. Enjoy bush walking, campfires, BBQ's and more at Wild Valley, South Gippsland, Victoria. You’ll love our place for the views, the location, the ambiance, the outdoors space. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and your furry friends (pets).

The space

We have combined our shared passion for breathing new life into discarded and vintage finds as well as our love of entertaining to create unique little getaways in the shape of retro caravans! Our extra large retro Viscount caravan sits on top of the hill protected by a wall of native trees but allowing access to incredible views of the surrounding forest and valley. Decked out in original finds from Australia, France and our travels in the world...anything that inspires the 'tropics' in us!
The van is equipped with the basic necessities to enjoy a relaxing escape from the city and the rest of the world if you choose to. There is a choice of indoor (gas) cooking and a BBQ in the undercover outdoor area. Fridge, cooking utensils and basic condiments are supplied.
The van has a cosy double bedroom separate from the main living area where you will be able to make up two more double beds! All sheets, blankets and pillows and bath towels are supplied.
Next to the van is a cleared site suitable for a few tents, so if you want to bring along a group of friends there's plenty of room!
A few metres away, with views of the valley is our bush toilet (dry composting) and gas hot shower with a view.
An abundance of wild life, birds and untouched landscape will be yours to enjoy during your stay. Sit quietly and listen for the various sounds from the shy, rarely sighted Lyrebird or catch a wallaby grazing at sunset.

Guest access

120 acres of Australian bush, temperate rainforest, farmland and a tropical oasis in the gully.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to meet and greet you, explain the layout of the property. After showing you to the van you can shut out the rest of the world and relax in the abundance of nature surrounding you. If you feel like a bit of other human interaction, come and join us and any other campers around in the 'big shed', another great spot for an outside bonfire or cosy up inside by the copper fire place.

Other things to note

This site is perfect for a group booking (especially combined with our French Vintage Van site 100mt away) so please feel free to enquire before making your booking if you would like to do this.
Being able to drive right to the door of this van makes access much broader than the 70's Retro Caravan. It will also have a longer dose of sunlight (in winter) due to being on top of the hill.

Please advise us of any furry friends you will be bringing with you.
We have loved giving the freedom to pet owners to bring along their furry mates however, we are now required to restict them from sleeping inside UNLESS guests can guarantee there is absolutely no trace on any rugs, bedding or furnishings. All droppings outside must be buried. We have purchased 'doggy' tents to borrow if you think this would be a better option to set up. Please be responsible and don't force us to restrict pets completely. Thank you :)

We really enjoyed our time here. The van decor is awesome, and loved the little touches. Temporary host wasn't available when we were due to check in, but that was the only glitch. Would be fantastic in the warmer weather. Loved the walk around the property in the morning.

This is a caravan that has been stylised by and representing the people who own it. It's funky, sweet, clean and comfortable. The location is amazing. This is not a hotel or resort. It's a caravan on top of a lonely hill done well.

Samantha and Eric are a couple of ol' legends humble enough to share their rolling green pastures with lucky guests each week. Comfortable and kitsch, we were transported to a tropical hilltop paradise in the heart of Gippsland. The collection of Hawaiian CDs was a special touch to set the mood. Aloha! Surprises await the curious adventurer, but be sure to take yourself on a walk into the rainforest below. The oasis beckons. Follow the beat of the island drum and you will stumble on a poolside bungalow in the heart of the rainforest. Tiki tiki! Our merry group of vacationers glamped gleefully through the weekend.

Wow. By far one the best places we have ever stayed!! Beautiful, gorgeous, just magical! We stayed 1 night in the cabin and enjoyed every single bit of it. Both Samantha and Mousse where super welcoming, answered all our questions with patience and helped us out providing ice, etc. Recommend everyone who is even thinking of a gateway to definitely try stay here for at least 1 night! There are friendly choocks, horses, miniatur horses etc around the area, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset and amazing campfire. Absolute perfection.

We are a creative couple who love to meet new people and share stories of our travels and life in this part of the World. Eric, a landscape gardener originally from Paris, found this beautiful property 20 years ago to plant his 1000 olive trees...a few remain on top of the hill! I am a fashion/interior/home wares designer with a passion for recycling, salvaging and giving old things new life.
