Our place....

You’ll love our place because of the location, the views, the serenity, the bushwalks, swimming in the Macdonald River.

You can dine in the gardens of the Settlers Arms Inn, or indoors near a cosy fire, in one of their indoor dining rooms.

We are dog friendly, family friendly, good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers.

We have no mobile phone reception - disconnect for a bit!

The space
The building is the historic courthouse, built in the 1890's by convict settlers. It has now converted to comfortable weekend accommodation. It has holding cells, which are now bathrooms (with underfloor heating), and causal dining area in the old exercise yard.

There are fires located throughout the building, for those cooler nights.

St Albans is a majestic location, a great place to relax!

For those that are more adventurous - there are fantastic bush walks, river swimming, kayaking (BYO), country walks, long lunches at the only pub in town. Please also be aware that there are no shops in town, you will need to bring all your own food etc.....

Please be aware this is not the 5 star Hilton, it is rustic, and old. the prisoners exercise yard leaks in heavy rain, the floor boards creak, and its the country. If your not ready to experience this, and disconnect off the communications grid, please consider staying elsewhere.

Guest access
Whole Building. We generally only hire out the Courthouse as exclusive use.

Other things to note
A Few Things to Know Before You Book

Our accommodation is set in a historic building, around 150 years old. With that age comes a few quirks and character features that are all part of the charm.

The house is used solely for holiday stays, and our guests are generally very respectful. That said, little accidents can happen from time to time—it’s all part of the experience.

The property is also a working one and very much a work in progress. We’re often fixing fences, doing repairs, and taking care of general maintenance. While we try not to work during your stay, you may notice signs of ongoing improvements around the place.

Please also note:
• We’re in the Australian countryside, so occasional power outages or blackouts can happen due to things outside our control.
• Bring your own firewood for both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces.

If anything isn’t quite right during your stay, or if you need anything at all. We’d much rather help you in the moment than hear about it later on social media! Our goal is for you to have the best possible stay.

Neighbourhood highlights

St. Albans is a very sleepy town, with only a Pub. There are no shops in town (please bring what you need). The town is very historic, there are horses, goats, alpacas, occasionally a camel all in residence in town.
