Vibrant neighbourhood

Guests say this area is walkable with lots to explore, especially for dining out.
Outstanding location near the entrance to the Peninsula with a view of the lovely canal. Easy access to Pacific Coast Hwy and the 55 Fwy, yet you are only 2 blocks from the ocean and a 7-10 min walk to 32nd St. Beach. Lido Marina Village, a beautiful waterfront shopping/dining area is a 5 minute walk away. Newport Pier, where you’ll find great surfing, beaches, shops & restaurants is a 15 minute walk away. It is a quiet, residential neighborhood, so party people should look elsewhere.

The space
Best suited for two couples or a small family, our cottage is an updated 1940’s apartment above four garages. About 850 square ft. with two Queen bedrooms and two full bathrooms, the decor is French country with comfortable, vintage furnishings. The kitchen and bathrooms are beautifully remodeled, updated and well-equipped. There are two wall AC units, 3 ceiling fans and a wall furnace. WiFi is very fast if you need to work during your visit. There is a peek-a-boo view of the canal from the office desk. About 100 ft. outside the unit, a glass patio table and comfortable seating is provided for guests next to the canal. Have your morning coffee there, relax for a meal, and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

The apartment is well-equipped, but you are welcome to borrow from us anything you don't find inside. We live in the other building, so you can send us a message if you need something. The unit has an ice chest, picnic basket, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels and a Costco wagon. For babies, there is a pack & play, high chair, picture books and games. The patio next to the canal has a beautiful view of boats on the water about 100 ft. from the unit. It is a great place to enjoy the sunset or to have your morning coffee. We can pull out a gas barbecue if you want to grill something for dinner. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a garage anymore, but we will help you with parking.

Walking distance: Newport Pier, Lido Theater, Lido Marina Village, The Lido House Resort, Von's Pavillion Shopping Center, Starbucks, and the beautiful beaches of Newport.

Favorite spots to visit 10-15 minutes away by car: Fun Zone, Balboa Island, Balboa Pier, Triangle Square, Corona del Mar, Crystal Cove, Fashion Island, Roger's Gardens, Newport Beach Golf Course, The Wedge, countless restaurants, theaters and shops.

Beautiful sites close-by: UC Irvine, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, South Coast Plaza, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Wild Rivers Waterpark.

Our neighborhood is a quiet, safe residential area. There are countless wonderful restaurants and places to explore around the Balboa Peninsula. Walk to Lido Marina Village, the Lido House Hotel, and beautiful beaches. Watch the sunset each night on the patio overlooking the boats along the canal. Hosts are happy to provide lots of recommendations upon arrival.

My husband, Kurt and I have been happily married for 45 years. Native Californians, we moved to the beach from Irvine six years ago after renovating our family’s triplex. We love our beach life and enjoy hosting people in our upstairs cottage. We have been blessed to travel abroad extensively, exploring museums, hiking thru beautiful countryside, and tasting wine and regional foods. Most of all, we love spending time with our 8 grandkids.
