Find serenity and tranquility at this unique heritage getaway. Set amid a spectacular 4-acre garden, The Olives Heritage House was built in the 1840s but has all today's mod cons. A cherished example of early settler living near Yankalilla in the heart of South Australia's famed Fleurieu Peninsula, it is listed by the National Trust and is on the SA Heritage register. Just a one-hour drive from Adelaide, it is near the McLaren Vale wine district and minutes from The Links Lady Bay golf course.

The space
The Olives Heritage House offers a unique travel experience. Steeped in history, it is one of the earliest buildings in the Yankalilla district, with its mud-and-pug rear section built in the 1840s and the neo-Georgian stone and brick frontage added in 1858.

The home is set on four acres, surrounded by olive trees planted in the 1860s. They still bear fruit and yield a delicious olive oil.

The spectacular garden has a swimming pool, lily pond, a cute stone potting shed and a covered orchard. Its walking paths and sitting spaces make it a relaxing haven and a photographer's delight amid evening breezes and warbling birds.

Also in the garden is a two-bedroom cottage, separately available to four guests (See The Garden Cottage at The Olives.)

At the far end of the property is the owner's home.

Guest access
The Heritage House has a kitchen/living area, a spacious antique-filled lounge room with an open fireplace, three bedrooms and two toilets.

The main bedroom is large and imposing, featuring a king-size bed with five-star hotel luxury linen, including European pillows, soft doonas and optional throws. It has an en suite bathroom and air conditioner.

There are two small but cosy bedrooms off the living area. The Rose Room overlooks the rose garden and the Bunk Room features a double bottom bed and a single top bunk. While designed for kids, it is also comfortable for adults.

Guests have access to the swimming pool and the garden.

Undercover parking is available for two cars with added space for another two nearby.

Other things to note
If you are a large party - up to eight adults and three children - you can book BOTH the Heritage House and the Garden Cottage at a special discounted rate. Inquire now.
