Wow. I hardly recognize my house or my street from this review. Nor would the dozens of other guests who have left glowing reviews, I guess.
I did not take Jennifer's concerns lightly. As soon as I got her note about not feeling safe, I called. She did not answer or call back. An hour later, I drove in from Tybee to check on her group personally, but they had already left and were demanding a full refund, although this was a summer weekend that we could easily have rented to someone else. There are no fleas in our kitchen, and you would have to be a mouse to enter the house through that bathroom window .
I don't know who Jennifer met when she arrived. Our block is lovely and quiet by almost anyone's estimation. Every house is renovated. Our neighbors are SCAD students and faculty (mostly female), soldiers from the nearby Hunter air base, young professionals, and a few other vacation rentals. If you go a few blocks in the "wrong direction ," you can be in quite a different environment. But that's true for many or most places in Historic Savannah.
Savannah is a uniquely beautiful city. But it is a city, not a gated community or theme park. It's a multiracial city at that. If that's not something you embrace, perhaps you should go someplace else.
