Staying at Yabbiekayu was the highlight of our trip. An oasis in amongst the rice fields with easy access into the city. The room was fantastic and the Yabbiekayu team have obviously given much thought into the construction of the bungalows. The whole building opens up to let in …

Had a lovely stay at Yabbiekayu! The staff were super welcoming and helpful. The bungalow was totally beautiful with many thoughtful touches and I LOVED the running water feature and the moat with fish. The gardens were impressive. Tembi is very quiet and peaceful in contrast to …

such a beautiful review Cynthia, especially since the day you stayed your bungalow actually had a bit of problem with the Hot Water system. As I am sure you know the tropics can be taxing on equipment and things do break, but as I see from your review, it's impossible to guarantee nothing ever goes wrong but we an guarantee we can fix it as soon as possible (whch we did within an hour or so). So I am please to see that the overall service was good enough that this small hiccup didn't require a mention, thanks again for your tolerance. P.s we love single female travellers as we know we can offer you safety, cleanliness, privacy and as much support or advice as you do or dont need :) do come again :)

We really enjoyed starring at yabbiekayu. The bungalows have been careful designed to reflect traditional Javanese houses. The inside was tastefully furnished, and there is also a fish pond that goes all around the bungalow. The outdoor bathroom was fantastic (has a big bathtu…

We chose Yogya because we wanted to relax after a rather full-on trip to India/Nepal - and we have to say staying at Dave's place was the best choice. We stayed in Bungalow 3 - with water feature surrounding the bungalow that was supposed to keep it cool. Bungalow 3 is perfec…

Thanks so much for the great review El Gary :) I started out worried when I read that the water was "supposed to keep the bungalow cool"... worried that it hadn't, reading on though I was pleased to hear that you were in fat cool and comfortable. The idea of using waterfalls and moats or pipes to cool floors of buildings comes from studies of the way ancient Romans cooled their houses, so we thought we would try it in Yogya and it seemed to work well here too. I'm also glad to hear you liked the gardens and I will pass on your comments to Adji and Pak Pri in the gardening team who really are in love with creating tropical edible gardens and safe spaces for the local wildlife. I for one love the shiny timid lizard that I sometimes see near the waterfall in the private garden of Bungalow 3, he has such a silken rainbow coat, and as you say fireflies drifting past are a common sight in the early evening much to everyone's delight. Glad that Babun and the rest of the staff looked after you so well Hope that next time we do manage to meet up yours Dave

Yabbiekayu is fabulous. All the staff are very welcoming and will do everything possible to accommodate your needs. The bungalows are super amazing and very clean. The place is peaceful, calm and safe. It is not far to the cool parts of Jogja so it makes the perfect place to rest…

Thanks Louise for your lovely review, we are glad you found the place to be "peaceful calm and safe" we do try hard to create that feeling of a retreat space form the hustle and bustle of Indonesia which can at times be a bit much for people from less crowded countries (like myself). Being just a few kilometres out form town allows us to offer the best of both worlds, quiet retreat and a quick duck in to town to join and revel in the mayhem and fun. We also recommend ViaVia tours, they are lovely people and offer a great service, especially for single travelers who can share costs and meet others. We of course also offer a complete range of tours and can provide a lot more flexible options as well as we cater one on one to your exact request. There is simply so so much to see and do around Yogya.. after ten years here it still continues to amaze me. Only last night I ran into the Yogya Owl Cooperative... who would have thought! a bunch of dedicated Owl enthusiasts on a mission to convince farmers to use owls as pest control, this city never ceases to amaze me. Thanks again for choosing to stay with us Louise, hope to see you again soon Dave
