Welcome to Cloudfarm
Cloudfarm is a unique 33-acre sanctuary perched at the highest point of the Illawarra escarpment, offering breathtaking, ever-changing views — where the sky feels close enough to touch.
A world away, yet just 7 minutes from Robertson and 25 minutes from Bowral and Moss Vale, it’s the perfect base for a romantic escape or a slow meander through the Southern Highlands — with its cool-climate vineyards, farm gate produce, misty trails, and a touch of chic country charm.
The space
The Cloud Pad is a self-contained studio apartment with spectacular views, tucked at the southern end of our rambling farmhouse — its own world, self-contained, peaceful, and completely private, with views to rival the best lookouts in the Southern Highlands — only without the tourists !
In the cooler months, a slow-combustion fireplace keeps the space warm and inviting. Curling up in bed and watching the embers glow is a rare and deeply nurturing treat. In keeping with our environmental values, we only supply sustainably harvested firewood — meaning no habitat has been harmed to keep you cosy.
The space carries our personal style, with original artworks, handmade ceramics, and pieces gathered from our travels. Built from mud brick, the Cloud Pad holds a rustic charm — naturally cool in summer and warmly insulating through winter.
It’s ideal for couples, but there is also a king single in a small adjoining bedroom for a third guest if needed.
CloudFarm is a proud member of the Wildlife Land Trust, auspiced by Humane Society International, and also part of Wildlife Rescue South Coast. The land you’re staying on is a sanctuary — for wildlife and for you.
Guest access
Exploring CloudFarm
Guests are warmly invited to wander through the garden and enjoy the long, leafy stroll up and down our private driveway — it’s about a kilometre and makes for a perfect morning heart-starter.
The driveway is gravel and can be unsteady underfoot, so please take your time, especially when walking or driving. If you haven’t packed boots, we recommend sticking to the mown areas and the main path.
Please take care when walking — this is real country terrain, with uneven ground, rocks, and the occasional fallen branch.
As with many Australian rural properties, CloudFarm is also home to wildlife, including snakes and insects. While we take great care, some curious crawlies may occasionally pop in to say hello.
A gentle note:
CloudFarm is a natural property, and all visitors enter at their own risk. We cannot accept liability for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur during your stay.
That said, we’re delighted to have you here — and we hope the fresh air, the views, and the quiet magic of this mountaintop linger with you long after you leave.
Other things to note
About the Location
Cloud Pad sits at the very top of Mt Murray, about one kilometre up our private gravel driveway. Two-wheel-drive vehicles are fine—just take it slow and steady. If you’re driving a very low sports car, please check in with us first about driveway conditions.
Our escarpment-top setting is wonderfully alive to the elements. Weather can turn in an instant—four seasons in one day is not uncommon—and it’s usually around six degrees cooler than Sydney or the coast.
CloudFarm earned its name from the veils of mist that roll off the escarpment, wrapping the mountain in drifting silver and cool air. On humid summer days, afternoon fogs often rise and linger, turning the world soft and dreamlike.
Provisions & Supplies
With everyone’s varied dietary needs—and to keep food waste to a minimum—we provide only simple staples: tea, ground coffee, milk, and essentials such as oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, paper towel, foil, and cling wrap.
For main grocery shopping, the nearby towns of Moss Vale, Mittagong, and Bowral offer full supermarkets (Woolworths, Aldi, and Coles)—ideal for stocking up before your drive up the mountain.
If you just need a few top-ups or fresh basics, the Robertson village supermarket is only six kilometres away and has a good range of everyday items.
