Cute cosy place situated close to both the rolling hills of the Ribble Valley and Blackburn town centre. Living opposite a leafy park, the ambiance of the neighbouring space is one of peace and calm.

Getting around is easy. Bus stop 2 mins away into town and train station a 2 min drive away to cities like Manchester/Blackpool each approx 40-50 min train ride away. Close to lovely Clitheroe, Preston and Blackburn with easy access to M6 and M65 motorways. Self-service breakfast is included.

The space

This is a place of calm & comfort, positive energy and eclectic style.

You will be met with a lovely double attic bedroom and newly refurbished shower room solely for your use only. The room is light and spacious enough to fit in an extra futon mattress that we have available should you wish. We also have a small desk available that can easily fit in to the room if you would like to use one.

The room is at the top of the house so is very peaceful and private. We want you to feel safe and relaxed during your stay and to treat it as a mini home from home, even if it's just for one night.

Guest access

Guests have a private attic room and bathroom all to themselves.

The kitchen is available for use; we offer some breakfast supplies. However, we are a vegetarian household, and ask that guests do not cook meat/fish. Although, meat-based ready-meals are more than allowed.
It should be noted that when eating you would use the kitchen table.

The living room is off limits and we also live-by a 'shoes-off' policy (as we have beige carpets!) so anywhere from the stairs upwards.

Interaction with guests

We try to be as accommodating as possible, and will be here to answer any questions. But this is a place where guests can do their own thing and just feel comfortable in our home.

Other things to note

Check-in is 5PM for weekdays but we are flexible and can be made earlier on the weekends.

Fantastic place to stay - our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating. It was our first time staying in an airbnb which is inhabited by the host at the same time, so we weren't 100% sure what to expect, but we were made to feel very much at ease and at home. We travelled with a ten-year-old who was very comfortable on the futon on the floor in our room. Next time we are in the area and in need of somewhere to stay, we will check availability here first.

All communication was clear and friendly, and we were given excellent directions before we arrived. Joan and her daughters are lovely, friendly and helpful. The room is large, comfy and extremely clean. We had plenty of room in the kitchen, and breakfast / milk / brews were available. We also had nice chats! I would definitely stay here again.

My stay at Joans place was perfect. Unfortunately Joan was away so her daughters took care of welcoming me in and giving me a bite to eat (!) along with a nice chat before I went to bed. I was overwhelmed just how nice and friendly they were. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was comfy. Absolutely no negative points at all 10/10.

Lovely home and great great lady, lots of tips and stories on Blackburn and surroundings, easy walk into the city, but bus and train closeby too. Nice park nextdoor, Blackburn is a nice base to go village-seeing, nice museum in Preston f.i. and beautiful nature around.

Hi everyone, I’m Joan!

I love people and socialising but also enjoy and respect solitude. An experienced traveller myself, I have both lived and worked abroad so I know how important it is to be able to return to a place and feel safe and relaxed. I have an interest in alternative health and nutrition but also education, which has allowed me to see parts of the world I wouldn't have thought possible. I am more than happy to offer a comfortable place for anyone and everyone to stay.
