The space
Windy Harbour is a quaint, historical holiday settlement on crown reserve surrounded by the jaw dropping beauty of D'Entrecasteaux National Park.
Our own bespoke, lovingly restored and curated, three bedroom heritage shack Ryan’s Rest, is 150 metres from the beachfront and adjacent to the park. The shack provides a warm and wonderful embrace year round - its location and aspect perfectly sheltered from even the wildest of storms.
Walk barefoot for miles on the beach or follow the stunning walk trails to Pt D'Entrecasteaux. Fish in the sheltered rocky channel near the Boat Ramp or bring a surf rod to head further up the beach. There is 4WD access to the mouth of the Gardner River, 2WD access to National Park areas on D'Entrecasteaux Drive - Salmon Beach, Gardner Lookout, Sunset Lookout, Tookalup, Pt D'Entrecasteaux, Nature's Window, Windy Harbour lighthouse, or climb the spectacular nearby Mt Chudalup. Windy is wonderful for wildlife and wildflower spotting in season, look for whales, dolphins and seals in season. Walk or drive 1km from Windy Harbour to Cathedral Beach.

Guest access
The Beach Shack at Ryans Rest is all yours, and the space around it is shared by fellow shack owners. Usually, the area around the shack is quiet, and sometimes it's a hive of fishing, families, and community.

** GUEST CHARGES
The listed price is for TWO guests utilising Bedroom 1. This is the downstairs queen bedroom. Please ensure if you plan on using the second downstairs bedroom that extra guests are included in your booking to cover the additional cleaning costs.
Bedroom 3, the upstairs king bedroom, is available on request for an additional fee of $50. Please request this room via the messaging system…and add two extra guests to your booking to allow access to the additional room.
The key will then be available for you upon check-in.
** The upstairs King Bedroom 3, is accessed by a flight of 12 steps, so may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.
**Cleaning charges may apply after departure - for additional bedding utilised but not booked. Thank you for your understanding.
**** Sadly, as we have had a number of stays that have included more guests than have booked, we kindly ask for HONESTY when booking the total number of guests in your party.

** All bedding is provided - being 100% pure French linen, along with luxury 100% Egyptian cotton towels.
** Beach towels are not provided.
** A portable cot is available upon request.
** Please note the additional PET FEE CHARGES for furry friends.
** Only Telstra network is provided at Windy Harbour. With the absence of Wi-Fi, it is important to download anything required prior to arrival, or perhaps purchase a Telstra sim prior. Emergency phone calls can be made at the free “old school” phone box outside the caretakers office.
** There is a full time caretaker on site in the settlement.
** Windy Harbour settlement does not have food supply sources, retail outlets or fuel. The nearest small town of Northcliffe (20 minute drive) has a general store with a good range of basic supplies and a few other services, such as fuel, cafes, hotel and hardware. Pemberton (larger town) and Manjimup (regional service town) have better availability of services, being a more 35 minute and 70 minute drive, respectively.
We do recommend stocking up on supplies prior to arrival, as many guests don’t want to leave once here!
** Summer school holidays and school holidays in general, present a busier time at Windy - a most wonderful time for families. Other times of the year, you may just have the beaches and settlement all to yourself.
** Being off grid, please note that the bedrooms do not have heating or cooling. We haven’t as yet felt the need for either. (A gas heater and wood fire is provided in the living room.) The upstairs king room (bedroom 3) can get quite cool over winter, although blankets are plentiful.
** THE BEACH SHACK AT RYANS REST is a charming and bespoke heritage shack. Its age is reflected within its authentic walls, so we ask that you embrace and enjoy its imperfections in the story that it tells.
Depth over grandeur….
** The nearest medical service is a nursing post in Northcliffe, or pharmacies, doctors and hospitals in Pemberton and Manjimup.
** Out of respect for our lovely neighbours when they are down - we do request quiet time between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am.
** No Wifi or television is available at the shack - with purposeful intent. We provide many “old school and authentically real” entertainment options, including a cricket set, boules, bocce, finska, quoits and croquet - perfect for the back garden or adjacent park. Also a wide range of books and games, for all ages and all interests, are located in our extensive library. (If the beach and extraordinary surroundings aren’t enough!)
