Welcome to our 101 year-old home in the historic Arden Park Neighborhood! Located near major freeways, you can reach downtown/mid-town or the suburbs in minutes. It's all the tranquility of Detroit's historic beauty with access to everything the city has to offer!

Come enjoy a homebrew in our cozy back yard in the summer and our warm wood-burning stove in the winter. We've put a lot of work into renovating our place and hope you'll appreciate our labor of love in progress!

The space

You'll stay in one of our lovely second floor rooms. Its gets plenty of light, has a television (with a retro gaming station if you're into that) and pretty much exclusive access to the second floor bathroom.

Bear in mind our home is a 101 years old and still a work in progress - please mind our dust and let us know if you have any concerns.

Summer: Given the age of our home there is no Air Conditioning. While your room has a ceiling and window fan it is on the second floor and can be warm.

Guest access

As our guest you will have access to pretty much our entire home including the kitchen, living room, washer/drier in the basement. We will provide you with a key and you can come and go as you like!

Interaction with guests

Feel free to get in contact with myself or Justin for anything you need or join us in the shared spaces to read or hang out. We are here to make your Detroit stay wonderful.

Other things to note

Our home is 101 years old and has all the character of a lived-in antique. Let us know if you have any question or concerns!

Its worth noting that we have a strict vegetarian/kosher home. This just means that we don't allow outside meat/shellfish into house at all and have some requirements about outside food in general. If you bring in takeout please consult with us before using the kitchen and utensils. We are happy to answer any questions and will try to be as accommodating as possible!

We have a cute puppy named Mississippi. She is super sweet and loving but still a puppy with all the cuteness and challenges that brings. If you have any questions or concerns about her just let us know!

Staying in this incredible house is a really great way for travelers to begin their discovery of Detroit. Justin was very helpful, open, and welcoming upon arrival. Ask him where to go for a drink or some food, or about the history of the house, neighbourhood, or Detroit itself and he'll gladly engage. The room suited our needs perfectly, and even boasted Netflix and a retro gaming console! I'd love to visit again to see the house take shape with their renovations!

Alana and Justin live in a very charming house they are renovating. They are very welcoming, so is their young dog Mississippi! Good vibe, nice chat, I would definitely recommend this place to stay. There is always someone at home which is convenient. Parking is super easy at well. The neighbourhood is totally safe, close to Hamtramck where there are a lot of nice places to eat and drink.

Had my doubts about just getting a room in a house where strangers live but it turned out better than I expected. Alana, Justin and their playful doggy Mississippi were very welcoming and my privacy was respected.

Had an awesome time in Detroit as usual. Convenient, safe place to stay. Justin was very responsive and patient with a couple questions we had leading up to and during our stay.

Justin & Alana gave us a special airbnb experience. We got to walk their super sweet dog to explore the neighborhood, got a taste of Justin's tasty home-brewed scotch and really felt at home at their place.
