The space
Rockgirt is a historic house in Canton, PA. Built in 1884 by Bishop Philip Brooks, the house has served as the summer vacation home and permanent home to many families over the last 130+ year. Nestled in the heart of the Endless Mountains, Rockgirt offers beautiful vistas and a peaceful environment to relax and nurture your creative side without being too far off of the beaten path.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the whole house and grounds, with the exception of the owners' office in a former garage attached to the house, and the carriage house and garage where the hosts reside. Please be respectful of the neighbors' properties. We are happy to discuss where the property lines are so that you do not trespass beyond our 30 acres.

Other things to note
We are pet friendly, but dogs are not permitted on the furniture or beds. There is an additional $25 per pet cleaning fee.

The house utilizes well water, which is completely safe for drinking. Guests who are not accustomed to drinking well water may prefer to bring their own bottled water for drinking.

No fireworks or firearms please.

Canton is a small town. Please be respectful of our neighbors during your stay. Our house is on a dirt road and we ask that you drive on it at a reasonable speed for the safety of yourself, our neighbors, and their animals.

I grew up here in Canton, PA and married my high school sweetheart, Tom. I am a Certified Zentangle (TM) instructor and I enjoy teaching art to students of all ages. My family has lived at Rockgirt since the late-1980's and we have made many improvements to the home over the course of our time here. Tom and I enjoy camping with our grandchildren and my favorite camping destination is the Adirondack State Park in New York. I am active in our county's community arts council and volunteer at our local historic one-screen movie theater. During high school I studied abroad in Japan and love authentic Japanese food. Tom enjoys metal working, tinkering in his workshop and he has recently begun to learn to play the fiddle. We have been welcoming guests to Rockgirt since 1990. We hope you come and stay with us and enjoy this beautiful and historic property.
