The Lodge is set within the grounds of our home, a 12th century Wealden Hall house. Conveniently located to explore the delights of the Kent Weald, with numerous National Trust properties, Gardens & Castles nearby.
The Kent and East Sussex coast is within easy reach and boasts sandy and pebbled beaches, lined with charming seaside towns and villages.
Or head to Tunbridge Wells to admire the architecture of the famous colonnaded walkway of the Pantiles, and maybe sneak in some shopping too!

A comfortable, well equipped Lodge house set within the grounds of the main house, with its own private garden and summer house. Downstairs there is a comfortable sitting room with books, DVD player and smart TV. A highchair and other childrens equipment is also available. The kitchen is well equipped with a microwave, washing maching, dishwasher, Nespresso machine and breakfast bar. The enclosed garden is for guests exclusive use and with prior arrangement, guests can enjoy the use of the swimming pool (open & heated from July-Sept weather dependant!) The Tennis court is available for use by guests.

We had a great stay (10 days with my husband and 2-year old son) at Chittenden lodge. Carrie is a great host, very qiuck and easy in contact, both online and on site. The house is beautifully situated, next to Cariie`s house (but very private) with it`s own secluded garden. Our son loved to take a stroll trouch te garden and to the tennis court. The house has been decorated with much love and even more thought. Litteraly everything you could wish for or think of is there. Form toddler toys and a high chair to a greatly equipped kitchen and lots of pillows, blankets, towels and such. There is also a nice garden house with outdoor furniture where you can enjoy the sun in the morning, even if it`s a bit chilly. The collection of dvd`s is huge. This was the best equipped house we`ve ever been in via airbnb. The village is also beautifull, with kind people, nice little shops at the collonade and a big Waitrose and Tescos. Follow the public footpath sign over the Marlborough school terrain across the street for a nice walk through the fields into town. We laos loved: the KESR steamtrain, the rare breeds centre, Penshurst place and Bodiam castle. We did some good shopping in Rye, a lovely old town near the sea. Alltogether a great place to stay and spend your holiday!

When we came into the lodge for the first time it felt like here we really want to stay! Every single piece of furnishing and fixtures in the house fits with all the others, if you think of anything you might need, it is already there and if not, Carrie is very fast in responding and helping out. In terms of activities in the area, there are lots of things to do... All the villages are very picturesque, there are castles and beautiful gardens to visit near by, there is the weald and the sea is also not too far,... But just to be prepared, bring your Wellies, you might need them! And if you once don´t know, where to go next, just ask Carrie - she will know something! Carrie, here family and also their family dog are all really great and we enjoyed meeting them! Thank you for letting us be your guests!

Carrie had given us a warm wellcome. It was easy to find the very beautiful lodge. Everything we needed was there. For us it was the perfect place to stay to visit a lot of beautifull places, especially gardens. Shops and Restaurants are in foot distance. We enjoyed our stay and thank Carrie for the wonderfull time we was allowed to stay there.

We have lived in Hawkhurst for about a year since moving our family from London. We moved for more green, more space and more family time. What you see of our house today has been built around a Wealden Hall house that was here in 1390. We are slowly learning what it takes to care for a building of this age. The grounds are about 2 acres which is slightly larger than my 60 ft garden in London! The kids have space to run and I've rather surprisingly come to enjoy gardening. It has been a steep learning curve to say the least!

The countryside that surrounds us is beautiful, and we have enjoyed exploring and watching the countryside change through the seasons of the last year. We look forward to welcoming you to the Kent Weald, and sharing what we love about our new home.
