Escape to The Bales – our charming 1969 vintage caravan on a peaceful farm in Glenugie, NSW. Perfect for couples or solo travellers, this lovingly restored Franklin Regent retreat features retro decor, an outdoor kitchen, BBQ and a comfy bed for two.
Relax in the private outdoor bath and shower surrounded by nature and revel in the stars. Expect horses, roosters, fresh air, and plenty of privacy.

The space
Consider The Bales your little pocket of peace. This lovingly restored 1969 Franklin Regent caravan is perched on a working farm in Glenugie, NSW (15 minutes from Grafton). The caravan overlooks our lush pastures and the old milking bales have been transformed into your outdoor kitchen, dining and bathroom.

Enjoy cooking in the open-plan rustic open-air kitchen, fully stocked with essentials. It includes:
* A gas stovetop and oven
* Microwave, cookware, and utensils
* Enamel dishware, a coffee station, and vintage storage tins
* BBQ grill and outdoor seating
It’s the ideal setup for al fresco cooking and dining under the tin roof, with views of the paddocks around you.
🛁 Farm-Style Bathing
Be one with nature! The bathroom is outdoors, featuring a freestanding bath and hot shower tucked between timber and vines—perfectly private, peaceful, and fantastic for stargazing. If you are uncomfortable with bathing outdoors - this stay might not be for you.
🐓 The Farm Experience
This is real farm living. Expect to see horses, hear roosters, and experience the slower rhythms of rural life. We (your hosts) live in the main house nearby, but we respect your space—you’ll have plenty of privacy throughout your stay.
Please note: guests must be comfortable with animals and nature, as this is an authentic farm setting. It's perfect for those looking to unplug and embrace simplicity.

The whole of The Bales is yours to enjoy. Please feel free to explore the farm, however please be incredibly careful of the animals and fencing etc. The main house on the property is our home - please respect our space as much as we respect yours. If you would like a tour of the farm, we'd love to show you around! Just send us a message after booking.
Other things to note
If you are uncomfortable with an outdoor bathroom and toilet, or farm animals, this might not be the best place for you to stay. You can check out our other properties, The Cromwell Farm House and Middle Shed in Goonengerry to check our reviews and other getaways in Northern NSW.
We are a working farm - expect some noise from equipment, animals, and external suppliers and contractors at varying stages. We have cattle, chickens, horses, pigs and roosters. Some of these animals roam freely. We ask you keep your furry friends a safe distance if they get excited easily and to ensure safety for all.
Please also note that as we are an old working farm (although we've taken all the precautions with baits and traps), the risk of a rodent visitor is possible, especially after some heavy rain. So, keep food stuffs stored securely - best kept in the caravan at night) and be sure to clean up any food spills or crumbs.
