My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
Built in 1844 this house is a traditional, authentic, white washed Famine thatch cottage. It is situated on nearly 2 acres of mainly stone overlooking Galway Bay. The history, the views, the language, the people and the craic need to be experienced to be believed.

The space

Built in 1844 this house is a traditional, authentic, white washed Famine thatch cottage. It is situated on nearly 2 acres of mainly stone overlooking Galway Bay on Inis Mor, Aran Islands, County Galway, Ireland. Inis Mor is a spectacular island with the most welcoming and friendly Islanders. The history, the views, the language, the people and the craic need to be experienced to be believed. The inherent warmth of its people together with its natural amenities are the ingredients which attract visitors from all over the world to the Aran Islands. On the western edge of Europe Aran is one of the last vestiges of a lifestyle which is a mix of a slower and more relaxed pace but at times coupled with unforgiving conditions.Inis Mor, situated in Galway Bay is approx 14 kms in length by 3.8 kms in width.

We had a lovely couple of nights in the thatched cottage. Rebecca sent plenty of very helpful information about the house and the island before we got there, so getting to the house was a breeze. It's a very cute and cozy cottage, perfect to curl up and relax in for a few days.

Rebecca was so helpful from the beginning, providing us with all the tips and information to make the most of our visit to the islands. However the cottage itself was a true highlight; cosy, comfortable with the authentic aran island feel! We were greeted by a spectacular view and quaint interior - we didnt want to leave! Fitted with everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom we felt instantly at home. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway or family trip. Thanks Rebecca! Aoife and Ray

We are glad we made the decision to stay in this cottage. Very special. Beautiful views! A bit of a walk to town (mostly uphill on the way home) which is fine unless you start back too close to sundown. If you are the person(s) sleeping in the loft be sure to have a flashlight or another light source if you need to get up during the night for the stairwell. We are a family of 4 and had plenty of room. We paid for a tour guide one day. Told him the places we wanted to see and he took us around and shared lots of info. Some places we stayed longer and he left us and came back and at the end we had him drop us in town for shopping and dinner and he came back and took us home. Michael Og. Very good and reasonable pricing.

We are from Kilkenny and purchased the cottage over 6 years ago. A protected structure it took us until May 2012 to complete and has been rented since. The island (and the cottage) is a little piece of heaven.
