Jacob and his coworker stayed at my place for 10 nights at $28 per night to working at the annual auto show. There were 4 of them stayed in 3 different rooms. All information about our home and house rules are clearly described on the listing including the parking. Our home is no 5 star hotel but we pride ourselves in providing values by keeping our price low and a clean, cozy , and safe environment for our guests. You can get an overall understanding of our home by reading other guests' reviews and feedback.
At the time of their stay, there was 3 other guests in the house 2 of whom are long term and repeated guests. The other guests understood and respected our house rules but Jacob and his friends. For the 2 years as hosts, we never charged guest daily cleaning fees beyond the 1 time cleaning fee of $28 which is a living wage for 2 hours for a cleaning person to clean the room, change, and wash all the bed sheet preparing for the next guests. This cleaning fee is within Airbnb's guidance. Jacob and his friends constantly fussing about our strict house rules. When you have a house with people who don't know each other living together, strict rules allows us maintaining a clean and safe environment for all concern.
At the time of Jacob's stay, there were 6 cars and 6 drivers for a driveway of maximum 9 cars including a 2 car garage. I don't know how he arrived at 15 people. He was frustrated from the beginning upon arrival because he had to coordinate parking with other guests in the house since they all worked different shifts. Once I recognized the bad attitude in the beginning, I offered to alter his stay short to allow him and his friend the opportunity to seek for another place to stay. But he refused because he couldn't find another places for the same price. So he stayed but frustrated and seek for anything to get upset over. To make the matter worst, the sewer line on the street was clogged in the middle of the night (10 p.m.) that effected the bathroom in the basement level of the house. Anyone who owns a house understands what this means for the home owner. Our plumber told us the it was not the plumbing relating to the house and the county sewer department will help for NO CHARGE. We acted immediately the next morning as soon as the county opened at 9a.m. Although the matter was resolved within 1.5 hours upon the call, they exploited the situation and expected a discount. Mind you, we had another bathroom that was fully functional. Because I saw their attitude since day one, I stayed in touch with Airbnb customer service throughout my experience and documented everything. At the end, Airbnb management sided with us and cut his stay short and ONLY refunded him for the 2 nights they did not use. Jacob and his co-workers were band from ever back to our homes. We wish them well.
