Your very own spa

Relax with the outdoor shower, sauna and jacuzzi.
Escape to Valley's Hearth, a handcrafted retreat where nature and human artistry converge. Relax in the timber bath tub, rejuvenate in the unique sauna, and cook up a feast in the fully stocked kitchen. Immerse yourself in the poetic mystery and magic of this enchanting abode.

The space
Valley's Hearth can be found nestled under the impressive sandstone cliff face of Bare Rock, and on the edge of the Fingal Valley (or just simply named "the Valley" by locals).

We sit above the winter mist, and are basked by sun from daybreak to dusk. Kept company only by the chorus of birds and frogs.

Handcrafted and built with meticulous detail, and a whole lot of love from locally sourced and recycled materials, our home is a true work of art.

One of the most unique features is the attached greenhouse, which recycles grey water and uses solar heat to warm our home, keeping it cozy all year round with minimal heating or cooling. And of course the added bonus of greens and herbs for your meals during your stay.

And because all Tasmanian homes should have a fire place, we have a wood fire downstairs which reliably warms the upstairs living space.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you could need to prepare meals during your stay including a 4-burner gas stovetop, oven, slow-cooker, air-fryer and outdoor BBQ.

We also provide the kitchen basics: olive oil, salt, pepper, herbal + black tea, milk, sugar, coffee beans with an electric coffee grinder

The bathroom has a large walk in shower, with an extra shower in the downstairs greenhouse. There is a washing machine for guest use.

In the master bedroom you will find a queen size bed, with views across "the Valley" to the mountain ranges. There's a loft chill-out space accessible in this room by a staircase. The second queen bed is in a cosy loft space, above the "music room."

We have two single day beds which make comfortable extra beds for additional guests.

The "gym room" has a yoga mat, blocks, weights, kettle bells, a yoga swing, and acrobat rings. And "the library" has all our favourite reads for adults and children, and a fantastic collection of games for those wet, wintery days in.

And of course the wooden bath tub on the deck, and unique 2-person sauna (converted horse float), are the favourite features. The sauna is easy to operate and takes an hour to 2 hours to get up to temperature.

Guest access
The entire home is yours to enjoy, with the exception of a store room downstairs that we use for storage and supplies.

Neighbourhood highlights

In its heyday, Fingal used to be the main town in the area. There's a small supermarket in the Neighbourhood House, internet access centre, op-shop, antique store, mechanic and service station (with limited opening hours). St Marys (15 minutes away) has a whole-foods store and good cafe's, art stores, supermarkets, a pub and restaurants. Beyond that, the beautiful beaches between Bicheno and St Helens are only a short drive away.
