We recently selected John's flat in Four Elms as our base of operations for a visit to a number of places in south east England. What an excellent choice it turned out to be. We were a party of four adults and we found the flat to be extremely comfortable and well-equipped. From there we conducted day trips to Dover, Canterbury and Brighton, all of which were within easy driving distance. In addition, we visited Chartwell and Hever Castle, which are practically on the flat's doorstep and which we enjoyed immensely. The flat is close to a number of excellent pubs; we had dinner one night at the Four Elms Inn, which is within easy walking distance of the flat, and another night at the Henry VIII in nearby Hever. There were several more to choose from, but we ran out of nights. John was a terrific host, meeting us as soon as we arrived and touring us through the flat explaining how everything worked ( a necessary thing for Canadians unfamiliar with British appliances). He was a font of local information and provided us with excellent tips on how to get around and what to see. The fresh bread and jam waiting for us in the flat were a much appreciated touch. My only regret is that we hadn't arranged to stay more than four nights!
