Welcome to Myrtle's Hut – a wild and serene Eco Escape nestled in a quiet paddock surrounded by swaying gums and acacia trees, within a National Park. Myrtle’s Hut is a custom-built eco cabin designed for those craving a deeper connection with nature. This unique indoor/outdoor design blends rustic charm with thoughtful touches of luxury - a slow sustainable stay.
The space
Myrtle’s Hut is situated on the same property as our family home.
Step outside to cook under the open sky in the outdoor kitchenette and refresh in the private alfresco bathroom. Then retreat indoors to a pared back minimalist designed bedroom featuring bespoke finishes, underfloor heating and cosy comforts.
A small collection of breakfast goods can be found within the mini fridge in the outdoor kitchenette (all items are subject to change and are dependent on seasonal availability).
At Myrtle's Hut, we try to be as eco-conscious as possible and we’ve been lucky enough to host many guests who share in our commitment to care for the environment. That's why we thank you in advance for joining us in a more responsible use of water and energy. It's always a delight to meet like-minded people.
Myrtle's Hut offers a distinctive layout designed to connect you with the natural world. The bedroom and the kitchenette and the bathroom/toilet are all separate spaces, with no connecting doors; inviting you to step onto the covered deck and experience the serene sounds of nature.
As you walk across the deck, you'll be greeted by the nighttime symphony of birds, insects, and wildlife — an immersive and wild experience.
While this open connection to nature adds to the charm and uniqueness of Myrtle’s Hut, it may not suit everyone; especially those unaccustomed to the gentle hum of the natural world after dark.
Myrtle's Hut however, is perfect for nature lovers, romantic getaways, or solo escapes, as it offers the best of both worlds — raw natural beauty with refined simplicity and a little bit of luxury.
**please note; due to the open slatted fencing, unpredictable behaviour of our rescue horses and the bordering creek, Myrtle's Hut is not recommended for young children and infants.
Guest access
Our family home and the Eight Acre Paddock Guesthouse share the 40 acre property - a friendly reminder as there are other guests sharing the property, we kindly ask everyone to be mindful of noise, shared spaces, and privacy. Thank you for understanding.
Other things to note
Myrtle's Hut has an external kitchenette and an external bathroom and toilet. It is fully fenced but you will be stepping outside to the exhilarating brisk air (during the colder months) to access the kitchen, the bathroom and the separate toilet.
Only Telstra customers will have coverage. Other providers will not have service.
Again, important to note; due to the open slatted fencing, unpredictable behaviour of our rescue horses and the bordering creek, Myrtle's Hut is not recommended for young children and infants.
The Kinglake Foodworks - a small yet well stocked supermarket with gluten free and vegan options, is a 10 minute drive. Other restaurants and points of interest are at least a 20 - 30 minute drive.
For guest comfort and safety, shoes are to be removed when stepping onto the deck and indoor areas.
Pack your slippers!
Fur babes are so very welcome here but must be on lead at all times outside of the fenced area and paws to be wiped before entering the bedroom.
Horses and rescue sheep meander throughout the paddocks. For your safety and for the safety of the animals, please do not approach the horses, maintain your distance and if they come to greet you, please ensure there is a fence between you and them.
