The space
Central Stores Cottage is perfectly positioned to take advantage of exploring the small town of Gilgandra by foot or driving short distances. Named after my grandfather's general store in Gilgandra which operated in the 1950's.
The house is a cosy home reflecting the classic Australian house design of a central hallway and bedrooms at the front, either side.
The lounge room features comfy vintage furniture, a smart telly and a bookcase of contemporary fiction, jigsaw puzzles and boardgames.
The open plan living space also includes the kitchen with its original 1950's laminex table and a classic pine kitchen dresser.
A spacious office/sunroom is located off the kitchen with a generous desk (wifi) and a comfy 'divan' sofa for contemplation. Utilise the French Market baskets on the shelves to gather your goods at the local shops.
The two spacious bedrooms feature comfy beds made up with quality sheridan manchester. Bedside tables, hanging racks with ample coat hangers, bedroom chairs, mirrors and extra blankets are provided. Bedroom 1 has a new queen size King Koil embrace ensemble, while bedroom 2 has a comfortable double bed on base.
Reverse cycle heating and cooling is located centrally, plus ceiling fans in the bedrooms and lounge ensure comfy temperatures. The wood fire provides extra warmth in the cooler months.
Enjoy a long soaking bath in the spacious, modern bathroom, while your tea brews in the Japanese tea pot.
The front yard is a welcoming green space with olive trees, while the backyard features an undercover patio, leafy plantings and a long yard with large leafy trees. Al fresco dining outside in all weather conditions undercover, or enjoy your wine and cheese platter under the leafy canopy utilising the french cafe chairs and vintage timber table, while enjoying a view of the setting sun western sky.
There is ample free, on street parking in front of the house.
The town swimming pool and welcoming shady park are located diagonally across the street one block down.

I live on a merino sheep property just outside Gilgandra, NSW with my husband Mick and my three jack russells. I was born in Gil, spent 30 years away… studied at universities and art schools, worked mostly in the arts; have an online fashion business. I love good food & wine, contemporary art, the landscape & travels with family and friends. I have a soft spot for anything vintage especially if it has a bit of history attached.
