The Tides was the perfect base for our visit to this area of Nova Scotia. From the view of Micou Island, to the well stock kitchen and spacious layout, it suited our group of six retirees perfectly. Situated a short drive from Peggy's Cove, Chester, Lunenburg and other scenic villages, as well as The Bean and Bike, where we rented bikes for a ride on the Halifax to Lunenburg Rum Runners Rail Trail, we easily kept busy for the five days of our stay. Geoff was an excellent host and made us feel welcome and at home. His prompt response to a leaky tap was impressive and appreciated.

The place is breathtaking and we loved our stay. Geoff and his wife Jane are super nice. He brought us yummy brand fresh from his pizza oven and red wine. We also loved the zen in this house and it brought us so much joy for our stay. It was a memorable trip we had. Thank you!

"The Tides" located on a small cove in St. Margarets Bay; near Halifax, was for us a small piece of heaven on earth. The lovely home is clean and well laid out with lots of room for our 5 family members. It has a well equipped kitchen which was awesome as we love to cook. The front of the house has windows galore making it easy to see the beautiful cove. When the tide is out you can walk to the little island nearby or look for small sea shells and if it is warm take a swim. Water walking shoes are suggested as it is a bit rocky in places. The two decks are great for relaxing and the BBQ area worked well for us. The little flower garden sitting area were wonderful and this year the bugs were no problem so we spent a lot of time outside. Geoff our host is terrific. Friendly and so helpful, and available to answer our questions. He brought us kiln baked bread (yummy) and a lovely wine, perfect for that evening on the deck relaxing. If you need to know where to shop, get sight seeing ideas or suggestions then Geoff will inform. He is so familiar with the area and its amenities. This was truly an amazing experience for us. Staying in a beautiful home, being around super friendly Nova Scotia people as we drove about to see the sights andalso scenery that is breathtaking. Thank you Geoff and The Tides! We will always remember our stay.

Geoff is a wonderful host. He goes out of his way to welcome you and even had flowers, wine and homemade bread on arrival. He is very attentive if you need any help. The house is wonderful with great views and pretty sunsets. Location is fantastic for South shore and it's easy to get too everything from Peggy's Cove to Chester. Halifax is only 45 mins. Food, groceries and many great restaurants are all close by. The house is well furnished and stocked. I wish I had looked before buying groceries. So many things you need are already there. its a wonderful house. Saw deer all the time too. You won't be disappointed!

We arrived at The Tides hoping and seeking nature and time out. We, my wife and our three children, were not disappointed. Thanks to Geoff, his communication with us prior to was outstanding. He greeted us on arrival and told us all we needed to know, including a 'secret' local spot not in the guide books. I won't steal your thunder Geoff- your visitors can find out from your directly. As a location to stay, it is very easy and central - we were out for most of each day exploring, with coming back to the house something to look forward to! Anyway, the house is more than the description. My daughter of ten, after her initial tour, turned to me and asked me if I could feel the energy in the house like she could! All our children relaxed immediately as the feel of the place, and outlook, is one of the best we have come across in our travels. As for the kitchen, there is nothing more you need- it is a cooks kitchen. Anyway, thanks again!

We truly loved our stay at The Tides. Geoff made booking easy and preparation stress free by answering any questions we had quickly. He went above and beyond for us by tracking down a few items that were helpful! Geoff greeted us with homemade bread, and homemade wine (which was delicious!) and was very informative about the area. The property itself is amazing. The initial views upon arrival our breathtaking! The house is fully stocked with linens, dishes, toiletries, there wasn't a single thing we needed.

Both veterans of TV and film, my wife and I have travelled a lot over the years, and stayed often in lovely places like The Tides. Favourite haunts on the Mediterranean from Crete to the Algarve.

The Tides' owners, Michael and Cathy, our good friends and neighbours, live in Massachusetts. Also veteran travellers, Michael spends much of his life at 35,000 feet! They have one of our dogs. We manage the Tides for them.

We live across the road and through the woods a five minute walk. Don't worry - no barking! The Tides is supremely quiet except for the wind and waves!
