We arrived at The Tides hoping and seeking nature and time out. We, my wife and our three children, were not disappointed. Thanks to Geoff, his communication with us prior to was outstanding. He greeted us on arrival and told us all we needed to know, including a 'secret' local spot not in the guide books. I won't steal your thunder Geoff- your visitors can find out from your directly. As a location to stay, it is very easy and central - we were out for most of each day exploring, with coming back to the house something to look forward to! Anyway, the house is more than the description. My daughter of ten, after her initial tour, turned to me and asked me if I could feel the energy in the house like she could! All our children relaxed immediately as the feel of the place, and outlook, is one of the best we have come across in our travels. As for the kitchen, there is nothing more you need- it is a cooks kitchen. Anyway, thanks again!

Magnificent location and property. The house sits on a hill looking our over St. Margaret's Bay. Sunshine pours into the beautiful living room and kitchen all day. We loved sitting on the deck and watching sailboats and windsurfers. Everything in this house is top quality - from the kitchen supplies to the linens to the furnishings. It is truly a beautiful place to spend a peaceful vacation. Thank you to our host Geoff who was always ready and willing to help of needed.

We enjoyed staying at The Tile house so much. The house is beautiful with a great view from every room. The house is clean and well equipped. Geoff is a wonderful host. He welcomed us warmly with homemade wine. Many thanks for letting us stay here. Highly recommended. We will come back.

Geoff was an outstanding host. He was kind, thoughtful and provided us with wonderful tips on the area. The house was beautiful, spacious and perfect. The only thing I would suggest changing would be the mattresses that were quite uncomfortable. Truly a fabulous place to stay!

Response from Geoff:
Thanks for the input, Kristen. No one has ever complained about our mattresses before, except for one which we DID replace this summer thanks to constructive input like yours. It is SO helpful to get comments from people so we can make the place as perfect as our guests almost always seem to find it.

I don't even know where to start about what I liked. The house is beautifully furnished with a view out of all of the rooms that will delight you. Sitting on the deck reading or watching the sun go down with a glass of local wine was wonderful. It's incredibly peaceful and seemed to catch any available breeze. Slept with windows open every night. Close to stores for supplies and to the highway for day trips to anywhere you'd wish to go. Geoff's garden supplied some great veggies for our "cooked in" dinners. The only downside was we weren't there long enough. Will not make that mistake again!

The Tides was the perfect base for our visit to this area of Nova Scotia. From the view of Micou Island, to the well stock kitchen and spacious layout, it suited our group of six retirees perfectly. Situated a short drive from Peggy's Cove, Chester, Lunenburg and other scenic villages, as well as The Bean and Bike, where we rented bikes for a ride on the Halifax to Lunenburg Rum Runners Rail Trail, we easily kept busy for the five days of our stay. Geoff was an excellent host and made us feel welcome and at home. His prompt response to a leaky tap was impressive and appreciated.

Both veterans of TV and film, my wife and I have travelled a lot over the years, and stayed often in lovely places like The Tides. Favourite haunts on the Mediterranean from Crete to the Algarve.

The Tides' owners, Michael and Cathy, our good friends and neighbours, live in Massachusetts. Also veteran travellers, Michael spends much of his life at 35,000 feet! They have one of our dogs. We manage the Tides for them.

We live across the road and through the woods a five minute walk. Don't worry - no barking! The Tides is supremely quiet except for the wind and waves!
