Viewpoint Cottage is set on a beautiful 20-acre property in the small village of Great Western, located right in the heart of the Grampians region. It's a fully self-contained, well-equipped cottage featuring all of the modern comforts to ensure you have a safe, comfortable and relaxing stay, perfect for business travellers, holiday retreaters or romantic getaways alike.

The space
Located just 1.5 kilometres from the centre of town, you're within walking distance to Seppelt Wines and Grampians Estate for a spot of daytime wine tasting, and a short stroll from our local cafe and pub for delicious nighttime dining.

Our local wineries include Bests Great Western, Seppelt Wines, Grampians Estate, ATR Wines and Miners Ridge Vineyard - all of which have delightful cellar doors for you to visit. Be sure to send us a message if you would like to be chauffeured around them for a day of delicious rest and relaxation (but the Great Western way!). More information is available at the cottage.

The cottage features a spacious open plan living/dining area with lots of natural light, with a separate bedroom and bathroom. There is a sun-drenched porch with outdoor seating that faces our back paddock, a favourite meeting spot for a family of Kookaburras and Kangaroos (and a few horses). There is also an outdoor area with a chiminea with wood supplied and chairs, perfect for a cosy winter night by a fire whilst enjoying a glass of wine and a cheese plate.

A selection of breakfast items will also be provided including bread, eggs, milk, ground coffee, and preserves. You can also buy a bottle of local wine (even the event you haven't visited our wineries yet) which are on display in the cottage for $25 each. If you decide to stay 3 or more nights, we will supply a welcoming savoury platter featuring a delicious ensemble of local produce where available.

Guest access
The cottage is accessed via the rear of the main house with its own private entryway and parking spot so our guests can easily come and go undisturbed. Whilst our family lives at the property, you will have complete privacy and hardly know we are here.

We have a very friendly golden labrador named Rooney who will likely greet you on arrival (don't believe his bark, he acts tough but is a big old softy!). Whilst he might throw a ball at your feet, please don't feel tempted to throw it. He's getting old and his hips aren't what they used to be. You might be also welcomed by a horse named Teddy, who's a big fan of carrrots and apples!

Other things to note
The property is on very flat ground (albeit country ground, so dirt and gravel surfaces) and only has one small step from the ground to the entry porch area, therefore is accessible for people who have minor mobility issues. The cottage isn't fitted with any mobility support equipment though, so please keep this in mind when booking.

Location

Great Western, Victoria, Australia

We're based in one of the most beautiful cool-climate wine regions in regional Victoria, and with two of the oldest wineries in Australia within walking distance. Bests Wines and Seppelt Wines are both over 150 years old and make a collection of delicious white and red varietals ranging from $25 right up to $180 for the wine connoisseurs. They also have cellar walks available which is a highly recommended activity.

Great Western is also a short drive from Halls Gap which is located at the base of the Grampians National Park. Famous for its treetop hikes and stunning scenery, it's the perfect day trip for those wanting to get amongst nature and enjoy some exercise.

Hello, I'm Wendy. I'm easy going and love to chill out by a fire with a nice glass of wine or bubbly with my family and friends. I love mountain bike riding, hiking, kayaking and water skiing. I am a huge animal lover, all our four-legged friends living on our property are rescue animals. Rooney, our golden wonder dog, will greet you on arrival with a wagging tail. We also have two miniature ponies (Hamish and Misty) and one thoroughbred horse (Teddy - who is my daughters). He loves carrots and apples if you have any spare to share! I'm a laid back host and will always try to accommodate my guests in any way I can. I am happy to meet and greet you on your arrival if I’m not at work, otherwise more than happy for you to check yourself in and make yourself at home. I like to leave you to come and go freely but am nearby if you have any questions or concerns, so please don't hesitate to ask me.
