The space

A 17th Century timbered converted barn, perfect for either starting or finishing your holiday from Gatwick. The house is situated only 1 mile from Gatwick Airport and 5 miles from Reigate, and yet it overlooks fields and open country.

The accommodation is a twin bedded room with adjacent private shower room/WC, flat screen TV, double wardrobe, hair dryer, gas central heating, tea & coffee making facilities and ample parking. We are also more than happy to collect and pick up from or drop off at Gatwick Airport for flights and trains at almost anytime of early morning, day or evening and this is included in the price. Taxis are plentiful but charge £12.00 from airport to our house!

We can also pick up or drop off at Heathrow, but I do have to charge £30.00 for each trip plus parking of £3 or £6 on pick ups. The current taxi fare is £45.00 to Heathrow and £52 from.

If you wish to leave your car here whilst you are away, then we charge an additional £30.00 per week per vehicle and it is a lot more secure than any of the airport locations and far easier to access.

The house has WiFi and we will provide the code upon arrival. A full English breakfast can be provided if your departure is after 9 am otherwise a toast & cereal or picnic breakfast is available and all of these are included in the price.
The twin room is on the 1st floor (one flight of stairs), off its own landing, giving additional privacy.

The Black Horse Public House is some 200 yards along the road and offers good pub food and a good range of traditional ales. However we can now provide a 2 course evening meal for £15.00 a head as an extra, if required.

If you are travelling here by train, Gatwick is probably the most convenient station but Redhill is only 15 minutes drive away. Buses however are not a really viable option, particularly if you have luggage.

The area comprises many pretty Surrey villages, with charming pubs and churches and the towns of Dorking (11 miles) and Reigate (5 miles) offer a good range of shops.

DRIVING - these are the directions to Manor Farm and there are photographs in the listing of the view approaching from Gatwick & Reigate and of up the drive.

Travelling South from Reigate towards Gatwick Airport, follow the A217 signs. You will come to a small section of dual carriageway with The Black Horse Public House on your left on the corner of Mill Lane. Some 300 yards beyond the pub, you will see the big white road sign below and opposite two grubby white low level walls marking the end of our drive.
If you are travelling North from Gatwick Airport, again you follow the A217 signposted to Reigate. Leave the A23 by going straight over at Gatwick Longbridge Roundabout. Go straight on at the next roundabout by Tesco’s & the petrol station. At the next roundabout, turn right passing Fairalls, Builders Merchants on your right and then your view will be as in the photograph below. Some 300 yards on from the roundabout you will see the large white road sign below and just before two white low level walls marking the end of our drive.
The drive then looks like the photograph below. At night time the drive is lit. Drive up and hopefully you will see a Grey VW Touran. If there is a gap, please park there.

When you arrive at Gatwick you can ring us on either mobile or landline, then it only takes 5 minutes for us to get to the airport.

Directions for pick up from Railway Station or South Terminal
To help you find where we will wait to pick you up at Gatwick, follow the signs for Exit, car parks and taxi. This will take you along the travellator.
Cross the road and go through the yellow arch. Turn right towards Blue Car Park No. 1, Red Car Park No 2 and the lifts. GO TO BLUE CAR PARK NO. 1 LIFTS. Press 'O' button which will take you down to the Ground Floor where we will be. Wait at the bottom just outside the lift doors.

North Terminal to pick up point
Follow the signs to the Sofitel Hotel. Make you way either to the Reception or the Ground Floor entrance and then go outside the front. Outside facing you is a multi-storey car park and we will be waiting in front of that.

One of us will be there waiting probably in a grey VW Touran Reg. No. GU66 WOY with a faded red poppy on the front grille or an Audi A4 estate Reg. No. LX 55 WLB.
Any problems, then please ring on the mobile.

A delightful & attractive English country house, we would be very happy to welcome you here.

Richard and Lissey were amazing hosts who went above and beyond with travel assistance. They were warm, friendly people who have a lovely home where you are made to feel most welcome. The beds were extremely comfortable and all other aspects were clean tidy and comfortable. We would definitely stay with them again.

Richard and Lissey were enjoyable to be with. They went out of their way (literally) to ensure our stay was smooth and enjoyable, with Richard taking us to the airport twice to get our hire car and travel sorted. Well done on excellent friendly service and advice.

Richard & Lissey are wonderful hosts! After about 35 hours of travel time, we were greeted by Richard at Heathrow airport (highly recommend the convenience of a pick up option). Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Lissey who checked us into our room. The house was a great example of rustic architecture, currently adorned with Christmas lights and located close to Gatwick airport. Our room was cosy, quiet & comfortable with a garden view and private bathroom. Once settled in, we joined our hosts for afternoon tea. After great conversations about travelling, we were invited for a delicious supper. Although our stay was brief, I would not hesitate to stay again! A true Bed'n'Breakfast experience. And to top it off, Lissey left us a breakfast pack to bring on the plane since we were departing early the next morning! :)

Richard and Lissey were great hosts, nothing was too much trouble. We found we had a number of mutual friends and it was lovely to chat to them both over breakfast. We stayed for 5 nights and found the accommodation very convenient for visiting friends around the area.

First night in the UK, first ever AirBnB and Richard very kindly met us at Gatwick at 9.15pm on a wet Saturday night to direct us to his home. Richard and Lissie were gracious hosts who made us feel very welcome. Our room and bathroom were clean, comfortable and even better than described. After a good nights sleep and a yummy cooked breakfast we were ready to embark on our holiday. Thanks Richard and Lissie for a great stay. Laurie and Kate

We had a wonderful though short stay in the lovely converted barn home. Richard met us at Gatwick and took us back the next morning to catch a train into London. Wonderful conversations over dinner and breakfast. Warm, welcoming service all round.

We are a married couple, with 3 daughters, all of whom have left home. We have lived at Manor Farm since 1984 having bought it off Lissey's Dad. She lived here from 16 to 21 and we had our wedding reception here in 1973. All 3 daughters are married and we have 6 grandchildren. Our middle daughter who married in 2008 also had her reception here - real dejà-vous and she and husband Fraser have Ella, Monty and Alfie. Our eldest, Lucy married Andy in June 2015 and they have a daughter, Mia and a son Charlie and the youngest, Helen married James in April 2013, and they have a daughter, Poppy born in March 2015 and finally a boy due in September 2017 making 7 in total.
We both retired early. Me from Estate Agency and Lissey from catering. We love having the grandchildren round, as all live relatively locally. We are keen gardeners and have to be with this property, although I do manage to fit in a few rounds of golf and we do like our holidays especially to our house in Brittany, France. However, we have recently sold it after having finished completely renovating it and now look forward to our holidays being just that without having to cut grass & hedges and repair & maintain a property.

We also like being Airbnb guests, having had a 10 day trip around England and Scotland by train in October 2013 staying in some delightful Airbnb accommodation. We went to my niece's wedding in San Francisco in April 2014 and then drove up to Vancouver and the whole 2+ weeks was in Airbnb.

We have recently been round the world using Airbnb and friends staying in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji & the States for 2 months - a trip of a lifetime. Now we want to do it all over again!
