Wais and Ele will make you feel part of their home and part of their family at this incredible island getaway. Ele will feed you till your eyes pop and Wais will give you a boat trip you won't forget in a hurry!! If you are lucky enough to be on the island on a Sunday, you will experience a meal like no other as the village comes together to eat. Just wonderful! Notes to mention: If you have lots of tech, bring a battery pack to charge your things as the generator is only on a few hours a day. Bring plenty of bugspray as the mosquitos enjoy tourists!

Highly recommended if you don't mind forgoing a few creature comforts for a village experience in inspiring surrounds. Wais and Ele were friendly, wonderful hosts, and it was a pleasure staying with their family and in their village. Not only do you have a beautiful beach only metres away, but no shortage of exploring to do via boat around Wayasewa and Waya which can be arranged, or via foot hiking up to the top of the dramatic volcanic rocks behind the village. Don't forget to bring a 'sevusevu' to present to the mayor/chief.

We would love to provide a positive review for this listing. We understand how all the other reviews had such an amazing time in this back to basic home stay in the village. However, some things we're not sure why it happened led to some disappointments which led us to cutting the trip short. Number on the website was not working the entire time so we can't reach him. This has to be updated. He left us with his mother and promised to be back the following day but never came back and never checked on us. The mother tried her best to feed us the food prepared by her and tried to accommodate our needs but in the end mentioned it's not her responsibility and feels bad for us as we were left alone hanging during the entire duration which led us to deciding to move to a nearby resort for the last night instead. We just hoped things were communicated properly but wasn't. The rest are fine. It's really what you should expect. Not much signal, mosquitos despite putting the net, cold water, basic food. Food was charged 15fjd per day. This is to set everyone's expectations. No issues with check in and check out as fiberglass boats were very accessible. They change 80fjd per person per way. Transportation is a one hour fiberglass boat ride away from Lautoka wharf. Lautoka wharf is around 1 hour away by car from Nadi airport which we arranged transportation from a local transport provider even before arriving Fiji. The village people were friendly and lovely in general.

It is what we expected: basic, beautiful and welcoming. Photos of the house and bedroom don't correspond with where we stayed. If weather changes there is not much to do, and activities you want to do depend on availability of Wais. Lots of laying in the sun and snorkelling. We did a great walk up the mountain and enjoyed a beer before dinner at the resort next door. Overall pleasant stay.

A very nice village atmosphere the money from the air bnb is going back into the village to upgrade the homes and also the facilities of the homestay. I travelled on my own and personally found 3 nights 4 days a nice amount of time to get to know these beautiful, loving, kind people and their precious island but it won't stop me from returning in the future. If the wind is low there is snorkelling right out the front of the village and there is also a hill/rock/mountain to climb if you desire. I missed the whole bring cava for the chief but you can buy some when you are on the island, also you will need some $ for water at $3 per 1.5l of water. Hot water, tea and coffee were supplied. Overall a very enjoyable stay :-)

We enjoyed ourselves at Wais and Ele's home. The location is good, the food was good and more than enough, the hosts and the whole family (and the whole village) are really nice people. The view from the cliff is really amazing, expecially at sunset. Thank you for hosting us for 2 nights. The house is really basic, and you may need to leave your comfort zone if you are used to higher (resort-like) standards (e.g. bed is less comfortable, bathroom is less clean) but that's what made our stay here really authentic and exciting. It was interesting to get to know how locals live here without constant electricity, gas or water supply. All in all a good experience, if you are looking for this, I definitely recommend Wais and Ele.
