We are sharing a beautiful space in a converted barn at the bottom of our garden. There's a master bedroom suite with king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom and dressing room; a single room with child-sized bunk beds (2'6 wide); a separate shower room and large studio living space. We are happy to welcome one well-behaved pet. We are on the edge of the Ashdown Forest and within easy travelling distance of Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne, Glyndebourne, Lewes, Brighton and London.

The space

This is a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful space to stay, enjoyed by family and friends who visit. We thought it was time we shared it with others who might want to stay in this beautiful part of the country. There is a large king-sized bed in one room and bunk beds in another, to sleep a family of four comfortably. There is also a sofa bed if needed. The barn is accessed separately from the house so you can enjoy your own privacy.

Guest access

Chillies Lane is a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Crowborough. The barn can be accessed separately from the house so you can enjoy your own privacy if you wish. There is a long, wide gravel drive for parking vehicles. Guests are welcome to enjoy the tennis court with its terrace and the garden surrounding that area.

Interaction with guests

Whilst you're here I would be pleased to meet and chat with you, or you can enjoy your own peace and privacy in the barn which is about 100m away from the main house. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WiFi IN THE BARN BUT THERE IS 4G ACCESS IN THE AREAS OUTSIDE THE BARN and you would be welcome to come and use ours at the house if you need it. Many of our guests have commented how lovely it is to be digital free for a few days! Enjoy the wonderful scenery and fresh air instead!

Other things to note

Please note THIS IS NOT FULLY SELF-CATERING ACCOMMODATION. THERE IS NO KITCHEN/KITCHEN SINK IN THE BARN. HOWEVER WE DO HAVE A FRIDGE, MICROWAVE, KETTLE AND TOASTER AVAILABLE TO MAKE BREAKFAST. There is a dining table and four chairs with adequate crockery, cutlery and glassware. I am happy to leave a light breakfast in the barn if requested (£5.00 per person) and to prepare picnics by prior arrangement (£7.50/person).
We have beautiful solid wood flooring throughout the barn and for this reason I would kindly request that you don't wear outdoor shoes whilst indoors. Also, for this reason please don't wear stiletto heels on the wooden floors.
We are happy to welcome one well-behaved pet but please clean up after them before you leave.
I'm sorry but we cannot permit smoking anywhere on the premises due to the wooden fabric of the building and the surrounding trees and shrubs.
By the way, it gets very dark at night, so if you walk over to the pub after dusk, you will need a torch (we have one available for you)!

Fantastic little barn that suited our needs perfectly. Lovely and warm and very comfortable. Host’s communication was excellent and little touches with milk in the fridge for us was a pleasant surprise.

Amazing location Loved the barn, has its own drive, beautiful inside. We loved it! Would definitely go again. Even though didn't have a proper kitchen it was perfect for our needs with fridge, kettle & microwave and fully equipped with plates, cutlery etc. The bedding and towels were 5* quality, has the best nights sleep. Plenty of dvds and games, perfect for a family. Thank you Liz

Liz was extremely communicative and helpful. Check-in was flexible and smooth and the barn is absolutely lovely. There's a private driveway and the garden/field is far enough from the main house to be secluded, private and peaceful. Highly recommend!

First time we used airbnb and thanks to Liz it was a great experience. The barn is lovely .We greatly enjoyed the tennis court ! Even though it doesn't have a kitchen this wasn't problematic at all. Lots space, well equipped. Central location for all of the coast, went to Brighton and Hastings. Both easy to navigate and park in. The pantiles in Tunbridge wells are charming too. Highly recommend. Thanks Liz.

We were visiting family in Crowborough and this property was perfectly based for us. It was great to enjoy it with our puppy. It was quiet, relaxing and had everything we needed. We loved the terrace where we enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine. We will definitely visit again. Thanks Liz

Thanks Liz for being a great host, and sharing your barn, garden and tennis court! The barn was exactly as described, and a lovely base from which to explore some of the Sussex/Kentish borderlands. We particularly enjoyed Bewl Water and Ashdown Forest, and would definitely consider returning for further investigations...

I am mother to two young boys. I work locally as a part-time teacher of English. Being a working mum keeps me very busy but we have a wonderful converted barn/studio space in our garden and we think it's really too good not to share! Our guests would be welcome to mix in with our family or enjoy their own privacy away from the main house. We live in a beautiful location on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, within a couple of hundred metres (easy walking distance) of both the Crowborough Golf Course and a wonderful family pub that serves good quality food at reasonable prices. As a family we enjoy the variety of activities that the area has to offer: walking in the forest; cycling at Bewl Water or Bedgebury; enjoying the seaside at Eastbourne and Brighton; enjoying the latest film releases at the cinema in Uckfield; shopping and bowling at Tunbridge Wells and enjoying evening jazz whilst eating out on the continental-style piazza which is The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. So, whether you're visiting family and friends, here to enjoy the beautiful Sussex countryside and coast, come to watch the cricket in Tunbridge Wells or football in Brighton, here on business or come for a wedding, we really look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our home.
