From the moment I received the confirmation that Ms. Hopkins was going to stay at my house, I immediately called her to welcome her to introduce myself and help make her feel at home. Because this is a small, 2 bedroom 1945 brick ranch home and not a 5 star hotel, my check in process is very simple. I called her to see if she needed me to pick her up at the Atlanta airport, but she said she was renting a car. I explained to her that I was not going to be home to greet her because i had a business meeting during the hours she was going to be arriving. I explained to her that, of the two bedrooms, hers was the one with the "WELCOME" sign on it, so that there wouldn't be any confusion. I told her that the house doors would be open and to just simply come in and make her self at home. I had plenty of bath & hand towels & wash cloths and a bar of soap for her on the bed, as well as a fresh bottle of water, special Georgia peach candies and the house key all on a silver platter. I really didn't see ANY problems or "issues" with my simply, straight forward, non confusing check-in process. As for entering the home, during this time of the year with the humidity, my wood front door tends to slightly swell a little making it "stick"......which is why my side porch door is available and very easy to open and enter. My house has a lot of character and the front door during a few Summer months being a little tight, should not have been an issue at all with my home, especially since I have an alternate door.
In addition to my welcome call and silver platter presentation, I also gave Ms. Hopkins a little extra service by pulling over in my Porsche Carrera 911 as I saw her walking back from the grocery store with two bags of groceries and assisted her by bringing them back to the house.
She asked for the WiFi password/code and I showed her how to work the entertainment center and we had very nice conversations about her friend she was visiting and I even helped her with directions to Dahlonega for a little side adventure.
All in all, I felt I provided Ms. Hopkins with 5 STAR SERVICE!!
