The space
Vanbery Chapel – Boutique Stay in a Restored Church with Scenic Views
Mount Alford, Queensland, Australia

Perched high on a hill in Mount Alford, Vanbery Chapel offers a truly one-of-a-kind escape for couples. This beautifully restored chapel, once a church from Tarome, has been lovingly brought back to life and now provides boutique accommodation on our 43-acre property, Dulhunty, also home to Rosella Farm.

Originally losing its roof in a 1968 storm and becoming a hay shed, the chapel was rediscovered on Marketplace and relocated sight unseen to our farm—where it now sits beside Vanbery Cottage, the old Tarome schoolhouse. Together, these buildings are part of our mission to preserve local history and offer unforgettable stays.

Inside the chapel, you'll find:

A plush mezzanine bedroom with linen bedding and breathtaking views of the Main Range National Park through towering windows

A cosy indoor fireplace and an outdoor firepit, perfect for stargazing or morning coffees

A character-filled kitchen with a vintage monastery cupboard, stocked with essentials. (Note: no oven, but an outdoor BBQ is available for your use)

A spacious, high-end bathroom featuring luxe tiles and a rainwater shower for that spa-like feel

Access to our in-ground pool during the warmer months

Meet friendly farm animals, spot local wildlife, or simply unwind in peace and quiet with sweeping mountain views.

Whether you're looking to reconnect, celebrate, or just breathe in some fresh country air—Vanbery Chapel is the perfect romantic retreat.

My husband and I live on a 43 acre cattle property. I like playing golf in my spare time. I love to grow Rosellas and make Rosella products. We have restored an old Church and it is also listed as Vanbery Chapel
