The Little Fish Ranch is a very unique, passive solar home that is wheelchair accessible. The views from the large windows are spectacular and the setting is peaceful. Ideally located in the heart of Paradise Valley, Little Fish is only 10 minutes to famous Chico Hot Springs and is close to prime hunting in the Galatin Nat'l Forest or the Absorkee Wilderness Area. It's a great place for couples, families with kids, and wheelchair users. Come stay at our newly renovated home.

The space
The Little Fish Ranch is a passive solar home that is partially buried into the Earth. This helps the house stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It faces true south for maximum solar gain. The overhang on the windows helps to keep the summer sun out during the hottest part of the day. The view from the 23 windows is amazing!

The original railroad to the Mammoth Hot Springs Entrance to Yellowstone National Park runs right through the property. The railroad tracks are long gone leaving the gravel base which works great as a runway for the occasional small aircraft to take off or land. The runway has now been widened with grass to allow a friendly landing area for gliders. A tow plane or winch launches the gliders. You might see an aircraft takeoff or land once or twice a week.

I am an rehabilitation engineer and typically travel with my daughter who is in middle school or a travel assistant. I have a spinal cord injury as a result of an accident that occurred at the US Air Force Academy so I use a manual wheelchair for mobility. I am able to negotiate door thresholds and one small step if it is at the entry door frame. I can fit through a doorway that has a 25 inch wide clear space.

During your stay

We only occasionally visit our hangar to help prepare the house for visitors like you! When we do visit, we land in a small Cessna aircraft and park it inside the hangar. From our separate back entrance into the hangar, we usually take off to visit Bozeman, Livingston, Red Lodge, Chico Hot Springs or Yellowstone park for most of the day. We would only see you if you were to knock on the back door and we happen to be around.
