You’ll enjoy Water's Edge because of its location, four miles from Athens -- a multi-cultural college community located at the edge of Wayne National Forest. This spacious apartment overlooks a beautiful 3-acre pond and is located on 5 acres in a safe and beautiful rural subdivision. A great choice for couples, solo adventurers, and small families visiting Ohio University for parents' weekend, homecoming, freshman orientations, or outdoor getaways in the Hocking Hills! Maximum occupancy: 3.
Guests are welcome to smoke outside on the deck and can have small gatherings, especially if you are visiting friends in the area. This apartment is not set up for large parties.
Do not put anything other than toilet paper in the toilet. We use a septic system.
Please keep in mind if you have children that our apartment is on the second floor. Although the outside stairway was built with safety in mind, small children will need close adult supervision when going up and down the stairs. We are not responsible for injuries.
Finally, please leave the apartment in good condition. I do not have a cleaning crew. I clean the apartment myself; therefore, I ask that guests wash their dishes, place used towels and wash cloths in the laundry basket in the laundry room, wipe out the bathtub if excess products have been used, and see that rubbish is placed in the bins. And ALWAYS turn off the coffee maker. Thank you, in advance, for that:)
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.
I am a retired professor who teaches English part-time at Ohio University. My husband, Mark, is an art professor at a small college fifteen miles from here. Between teaching and raising kids, we also built this house from the ground up (I say "we," but Mark actually did most of the building:) Throughout our lives we have enjoyed hosting friends, family, and students' families who visit from around the world. We also enjoy traveling and meeting new people.
The kids eventually grew up and built lives elsewhere, and we were left with a big house that neither of us wanted to move away from; therefore, we turned a section of the house into a rentable space. The apartment is attached to our house but is very private and has a separate entrance. We are always happy to assist our guests (we are friendly), but we also respect your privacy. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance during your stay, and never hesitate to contact me with questions before your arrival. Mark and I hope you will enjoy your stay at Water's Edge.
