You’ll love my place because of the wonderful views across open countryside, the spiral staircase and the tree growing through the balcony. It's as close as you can get to a treehouse with all the comforts of home. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families.
Gorgeously romantic detached annex with stunning views across an area of outstanding natural beauty. Generously proportioned studio room with French doors to large private balcony with large tree growing through it. Spiral staircase to downstairs kitchenette and shower room. Access to beautiful garden shared with the owner's family which backs onto open fields. Sleeps 2 very comfortably, can accommodate 4. Self catering.
It's on a tiny little lane with trees meeting over the road in places. There are lots of public footpaths including one that goes through next door's land and down through fields to the woods.
Treetops is an ideal retreat or lovenest - it's wonderful space for getting away from it all and right into the countryside; to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature; to heal, create music or art or to study. It's very much a cosy country property rather than a stylish hotel setting but it's nicely and very comfortably furnished in rustic style. Horses clop along the lane outside and birdsong fills the air. There is a farmer along the lane who has equipment in use and large vehicles during the week sometimes so it's more reliably peaceful at weekends. There's a deck with a built-in barbecue and seating which you are welcome to use or share should the owner be there at the time of your visit. It's possible to have the fridge/freezer stocked with a variety of locally sourced food on request including meat from the farm shop and wonderful cheeses and vegetables. Similarly should you require a bottle of chilled champagne on arrival this can be arranged with the owner.
Treetops has undergone major renovations recently, including a new balcony made of local Sussex oak by local craftsmen in the traditional Sussex style. The bathroom now has a much bigger walk-in shower and a heated towel rail. Upstairs it has new carpet, curtains, rug, cushions, TV, mattress, pillows, linen, blinds, a power socket with USB points, a little dressing table with a mirror and hairdryer and a more romantic light above the bed. In the kitchen it has new quarry tiles on the floor, new pictures, coat hooks, curtains, microwave, full sized cooker and the washing machine, which has only been used 3 times in as many years, has been replaced with a dishwasher, which will hopefully get more use and make guests feel properly off-duty and relaxed!
For children over 5 the owner has 2 bunks (single mattresses with sheets, pillows and duvets) which can be made up in the eaves and which have occasionally been used for extra adult guests - however, being in the eaves they are more suited to smaller visitors. The garden is ideal for kids, with a brick-built Wendy house and a wooden climbing frame/swing/slide set and more swings and hammocks from the trees, including one suitable for adults from the major oak in the front garden. There's a small pond protected by mesh. A high chair can be provided on request but there are no stair gates so it's not suitable for toddlers. There is a £10 per head per night charge for using the extra beds.
The owner is a music teacher and 2nd degree Reiki practitioner who lives in the main house with one child. Music (piano, guitar, ukulele, singing & theory) lessons can be arranged onsite as well as art and crafts activities in the owner's spacious art/music/healing studio. Reiki treatments can also be arranged during your visit. Other therapists can visit to offer Aromatherapy massage, Reflexology, Yoga and Meditation sessions. (Please note that prior notice is needed and that sometimes staff are not available due to other commitments). If you would like to have an art/music/pampering/healing holiday please inquire for further details.
Although smoking is not allowed inside, it is permitted on the balcony.
Treetops is a fully self contained apartment. Guests also have access to the owner's garden.
Interaction with guests
I do my best to be here to welcome guests (if I can't I leave a key and come and say hello when I return). I live next door so guests are totally private and separate but I am usually on hand to help if needed. My aim is to be available but not intrusive; we've made a lot of friends through offering holidays but only if people have actively approached us. You will probably see us in the garden from time to time. Should anything go wrong I always have my phone and even if we are out or away we have local friends who can help if needed.
1) Enjoy yourself! We hope you find our little nest cosy and relaxing :)
Go ahead and park on the driveway next to the caravan. It's your space. I can park in front of the caravan. It's easier if you back in so you can see better when you leave.
Do not hesitate to ask if you need anything. We're very happy to say hello but don't want to intrude either.
Make the most of the garden but please don't go in the shed. Ask before lighting the fire or BBQ and do not leave either unattended. Don't do anything dangerous! Children need to be supervised and to remember that the play equipment is really the owner's daughter's that she is sharing, so please take care of it. Please don't pick the flowers. Behavior in the garden should be family appropriate.
Please don't rearrange the furniture/kitchen cupboards, etc.
If you have any problems using anything knock at the main house or call me. Please don't try to fix or rewire anything yourself.
Our pets are friendly but please don't let them in Treetops because some guests are allergic.
If you go out, turn the heating and lights off. Don't leave windows and doors open upstairs as birds get in sometimes. Please don't turn the fridge off!
Children MUST be supervised on the balcony. Also on the trampoline - we were given it recently and it will take an adult but it has no net and I can't buy one to fit so only one person at a time please and only with adult supervision.
No loud arguments or fighting. No extreme inebriation of any sort (I don't mind people enjoying themselves but don't want to have to scoop them off the floor).
Before you leave, please tidy up, wash up and put everything away in it's original place. Turn off the lights and heating, make sure all the doors and windows are shut. Rubbish goes in the grey bin to the left of the drive, the black recyling box goes next to it. You can post the keys through the front door of the main house or knock and say goodbye if you wish :)
I'm a single mum with one child. Treetops is in our garden. I teach music and art and run healing courses. I love hosting; I've been doing it for about 3 years and it gives me enormous pleasure welcoming people into our little sanctuary, seeing their faces brighten as I show them round, and sending them off happy and relaxed afterwards. I love the open countryside and the birdsong here, organic gardening, live music, cooking, animals and people.
