About this listing
The original cottage of the first winemakers in the Pyrenees.(Edwin Mackereth and sons) c.1865. Retaining the original roof and wall structure but repaired/refurbished. The interior is a window to life in the 1880's with extras and comforts. The property is located only 2 km from town.
The vines Spanish Cabernet, Tempranillo), planted by a local Vineyard are blaze of colour in autumn. A perfect time to visit is Autumn and Spring with moderate days and cooler nights - perfect for fires.
In Spring the vines are in full leaf and as summer approaches provide fresh greening in tired paddocks. We are not taking guests from July 15 to August 30 because the temperature is falling below zero overnight and in the morning, there is thick fog. We feel the house would be too cold to attain the degree of warmth necessary for comfort in the main living area.
At an increased price, we have additional guest accommodation - extra large family room with air conditioner, plus own bathroom. Sleeping: 1 queen bed, double bunks and fold up bed.
- The main house, garages and immediate garden are private and access is only by invitation.
