Cosy and comfortable Brook Cottage is a gentle stroll from the astonishing beach and tides of the Bay of Fundy, in beautiful Port Greville. Calming and serene on 5 acres bordered by a babbling brook, the land is wild and lush with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Amble over the land and up the hill to gaze out over the Atlantic Ocean and feel the sea breezes; ramble down to the end of the road and wade into the sea foam..
This bright and furnished 2-bedroom cottage has windows on all sides and can comfortably sleep four, with a cot and a couch and so potential for more. The cottage has a four-piece bathroom (tub & shower), as well as wireless, a BBQ, firepit, deck, outdoor chairs, TV/DVD, full-sized fridge and stove, microwave, books, games, etc. Parking for trailer/camper is available too.
As much as possible, we use natural cleaning products and hang-dry the linens.
Nearby amenities and attractions include a country store (ice cream, liquor, gifts, stamps, basic grocery/sundry, - 5 min. walk), a ship-building museum (20 min. walk), a dinosaur and geological museum in nearby Parrsboro (25min. drive), Cape Chignecto Provincial Park and the Wild Caraway seasonal restaurant (35 min. drive), and local activities such as kayaking, paragliding, boating, hiking, horseback-riding, fossil-collecting, etc.
Wander over the five acres as you wish! Encounter seasonally and variously crab apple trees, fiddleheads, salty breezes, berries, fox, and deer; birds and the brook and the outdoor firepit.
Please feel free to use the BBQ, and don't hesitate to let us know if you run low on propane.
If you like, peruse the dressers for DVDs and books and games, and rifle through the various local information pamphlets we've laid out..
There is wireless internet and a phone for incoming or local calls, or long-distance with your own calling card..
In the winter, the cottage will have an electric fireplace available. Please try not to leave this on and unattended. (If you would like to use the electric fireplace off-season, please let us know..)
The cottage has baseboard heaters as well as wall heaters. Feel free to turn these on and off as you require. If you leave the cottage for a time, please bear in mind that the heat may take a while to warm again, so you may wish not to turn the heat completely off. (Please exercise caution around the heaters as they can get hot).
Let us know if you need more wood for the outdoor fire, and please be sure any fire is out before leaving it unattended.
Interaction with guests
We hope to greet you when you arrive, but if this isn't possible we will leave a welcome note. Please feel free to make yourselves at home, and contact us if you need any assistance at any time throughout your visit, and we'll be in touch to help you as soon as we can.
Smoking is okay outdoors.
Pets must be house-trained (--please throw a sheet over the couch if they also like to lounge on it).
The cottage is on a well, so please use water (taps, shower, bath, toilet) economically whenever possible.
Exercise caution when using the BBQ, and outdoor firepit. Have water nearby please, and do not leave the fire unattended.
