HOME HIGHLIGHTS
Great location95% of recent guests gave this home’s location a 5-star rating.

Quirky Grade II listed cottage based in the artistic quarter of Cockermouth.
The cottage was built in the 1700 hundreds has 3 floors with 2 staircases. It is not for people with mobility issues who cannot climb steep staircases or wanting modern bland Travel Lodge hotel decor at Air B&B prices.

With a living room, dining room and outside space you will be hard pressed to find similar value for your money in Cockermouth! DOGS welcome.
There is secure storage space for your bikes in the shed.

Enjoyed our stay, great location for exploring Cockermouth & Northern Lakes. Good value, the steep stairs were a bit of a challenge for my Mum but Jan does make this clear in his description. Anyone looking for a very reasonably priced holiday in an attractive Cumbrian town will…

Loved the location - near to all amenities. House just as we expected from photos. Jan there to meet us on arrival to hand over key and give us a quick tour which was a nice touch.

The property is in a great location but unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The stairs described in the listing are actually three flights over three floors. Cleanliness in bathroom could have been better. It is a very old property but doesn't need to feel so stale an…

Response from Jan:
Richard unfortunately did not realize this is a grade 2 listed building and is an old property. It is budget accommodation as per previous reviews it is not a modern newly built cottage or a new barn conversion. At the price it is excellent value accommodation for your money. Richard should have booked the Trout Hotel instead of booking through air B and B. I think Air B and B is not for Richard and his wife, they should best stick to booking expensive hotels. Fortunately our other reviews and 5 star ratings are a better reflection of what we offer. These reviews have been built up over 2 years!!

Jan was great with communication, he sent a message as soon as I had booked, and responded quickly with other messages. The place is as described, stairs are 'fun', as described in advert, very steep but ok if care is taken. Great location, easy walk into a pleasant town with lot…

All three of us really enjoyed out stay at Jan's place. Great location, lots of character, good value. Communication throughout was terrific. And on the evenings you don't want to cook, the Bitter End pub around the corner serves great meals.

Cockermouth and the Lakes are very special to me, because my wife was born in Cockermouth and it reminds me of the scenery, mountains and walks I had in Cape Town South Africa where I was born. My wife and I bought the Grey Goat Cottage a few years ago as a holiday home to esc…
