Garden view

Soak up the view during your stay.
Perched on natural stumps and tucked beneath the treetops, the Seahorse Studio is a private, lower-level suite contained within Del Sol Treehouse. Surrounded by garden and dappled light, it’s a charming couple's hideaway just 10 minutes from Hobart.

With a private entrance, ensuite bathroom and modest breakfast bar, it offers a cosy retreat. Relax in the plush king bed, soak in the bathtub, brew a coffee and enjoy a charming and uniquely Tasmanian stay, a short drive or ferry from the city.

The space
The Seahorse Studio is the lower level of Del Sol Treehouse, the whimsically imagined home of a Victorian naturalist from a bygone era.

The Seahorse Studio draws you inward. It is a space that cocoons and embraces. Tucked beneath the timber poles and hidden by the garden, the studio has the feeling of a secret but discovered place.

A collector's space filled with curiosities, the light filters softly through the trees. Time moves differently here.

The highlight of the space is the vintage bathtub, complemented with bath salts and bubble bath, and designed for long, unhurried soaks that stretch well into the evening. The quiet luxury of heated towel rails and underfloor tiles warms your feet on cool Tasmanian mornings, turning the ordinary into something quietly indulgent. A huge king bed dressed in luxe linen waits beyond, set in dappled light and made for slow mornings.

The breakfast bar is stocked with a French press, kettle, toaster, teas, coffee and hot chocolate for easy mornings and quiet afternoons.

A reading nook, a quaint dining table for intimate evenings, and a curated collection of books hint at a relaxing evening in.

For guests travelling from afar, the Seahorse offers something genuinely rare: a stay shaped by the textures, timbers and quiet character of Tasmania, and one that could only exist here.

Step outside and the garden unfolds around you, a whimsical, wild space threaded with stony pathways leading to the easement stairs. From there, the Derwent Ferry terminal is a gentle walk downhill, and the Rosny Reserve bushwalking tracks wind upward through native bushland to lookouts with sweeping views across Hobart and kunanyi/Mt Wellington.

To keep you comfortable through the cooler months, the studio has a reverse cycle air conditioner, a hot water bottle and extra blankets for the coldest nights.

A few things worth knowing before you arrive.

The Seahorse breakfast bar is designed for simple mornings rather than full cooking. It does not include a microwave, stove, oven, or kitchen sink the bathroom sink is available for rinsing. Please see the gallery for a full picture of the space.
The bathroom features a combined bathtub and shower with a handheld showerhead rather than a fixed overhead shower.

Guest access
Seahorse Studio is the private lower level of Del Sol Treehouse, a quiet, garden-surrounded retreat designed for rest. This self-contained space offers a peaceful place to slow down, with a garden outlook and thoughtful details that invite long soaks and lazy evenings.

The Canopy sits above and is not included in this booking. For guests planning a longer stay or wishing to experience the full treehouse experience, the full Del Sol Treehouse listing may be a more natural fit.

Guests are welcome to wander the garden paths or take the easement stairs for a gentle stroll to the ferry or up to Rosny Reserve.

Each level has its own private entrance and, to preserve the calm of the space, we do not book both suites at the same time.
