About this listing
A beautiful and clean apartment in the bustling Collingwood area, built with wooden floors, a kitchen that's a delight to use, and fantastic shared outdoor spaces!
You can step out into the gardens, with long tables that are well-lit at night, with plenty of room to move. Comfortably houses up to 4 if you're willing to couple up and use the sofa bed - which is plenty comfortable.
The place is right on Smith St - the perfect base from which to explore Melbourne!
Step inside the building and it's pretty clear everything's near new! The kitchen is really well-sized, with a great oven, stovetop, spacious fridge, dishwasher and microwave. There's plenty of space to move around and prepare food, if you're going to be eating at home. And supplies are never far away, with the supermarket literally right downstairs, open until midnight every day.
From my place you'll be able to step out into the shared courtyard garden out the back, and take a short walk to the two other gardens in the building, as well as the two rooftop spaces, which provide a shared bbq and plenty of places to chill.
The gardens include:
- European garden (which we open up into): big open tables with good lighting, fruit trees
- Indigenous garden (down the hall): Chill out space with indigenous plants and a funky vibe
- Herb garden: (down the end): A nice place to enjoy the sun, amongst more fruit trees and produce growing between the walkways.
Interaction with guests
I'll be overseas with limited access, but will try to provide everything you need in the house manual. If there are any urgent issues with the building, there is a resident building manager that you will have contact details for.
This building has been newly constructed on the site of the Original Coles supermarket in Australia - which also got a facelift in the process! That means that all you have to do is head downstairs for all your grocery needs. It's pretty convenient!
I also like to take a short walk to the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens, which is just past the base of Smith St. Carlton Gardens, with the Melbourne Museum is also a short walk away.
Smith St itself is a hub of activity - dining, entertainment, art, all thriving in this scruffy but very popular area.
You'll have access to secure, 24 hr underground car-parking (free), but the tram that stops right out the front door will take you straight into the CBD, or any number of other places.
Other things to note
Access to the building is with a security dongle that also provides access to the dedicated parking space.
We live in a shared apartment building, so showing courtesy to neighbouring guests is important. It's ok to have friends around and use the outside spaces as long as you're courteous - if you're going to want to kick on late into the night and make a lot of noise, it's pretty easy to migrate into some of the many awesome bars and clubs on Smith St and surrounds.
Smoking is not allowed indoors, but you may smoke outside on the balcony.
Cancel up to 24 hours before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
